I've worn weaves since my highschool and I never did anything to my hair underneath. One weave after the next so of course my hair was a mess. Since finding this forum my hair has made a nice (and quick might I add) turnaround. I've even managed to get my edges to grow in with info from you guys. But my nape just hates me. It refuses to obey! Lol. I keep it moisturized. I moisturize twice a day, wash and deep conditon once a week and my hair responds well to this. Haven't really had to add any protein to my regimen. I don't use heat, am 100% natutal now, protective style but still I can barely braid my busted, beadie little nape. Any suggestions? I'm getting frustrated.

I had terrible nape issues most of my life. Seemed like nothing worked. I think my hair suffered from relaxers when I was in high school. Started using Minoval and now I have hair in my nape. I can wear my hair up now and I'm so happy. God really blessed me with Minoval.

My nape hair grew, but the follicles never held onto it.
I researched Minoval before I used it. Some users said that the hair in this area didn't fall out like it did with Rogaine once they stopped using it. Honestly, I don't mind using this well into old age if I have to.

My hair has NEVER been an easy process. I feel like I'll always have to do mroe than the average person to maintain a head of healthy, strong hair.

You can google Minoval, but it does have Minoxidil and it works for me, so I use it.

My nape isn't growing. Or it is and breaking off. But I don't think that's it since it stays moisturized, it isn't mushy either so I don't think I'm moisturizing too much. I just wanna figure out how to get it to grow. I'm trying to post pics but my phone is being dumb

If you don't want to try protein on occasion, why not a reconstructor? Also, what is your diet like? How long have you been actively doing the right htings for your hair? Years of damage take time to reverse. Most of us learned what to do by trial and error over long periods of time. It seems like you are def on the right path:yep: but, "patience grasshopper." My nape was the last thing to grow in when I started my HHJ about 2 years ago. It was so short not even the smallest flat iron, curling iron barrel, or hair roller would do anything for it:look:. Now, when stretched it is around BSB. You could try growth aids like MT, sulfur, etc but I think you may need to keep doing what you're doing and wait.

oh ok yeah those really are the most delicate areas. Have you tried certain topicals like mega-tek or olive oil with sulfur in it..that really worked wonders for me.

my diet is ok, i drin kplenty of water, take a multivitamin every day. I have also just recently started beemine growth serum with sulfur. I don't really think I need it, just heard good things about it on the forum and can always use an extra boost. I haven't been at this long. Probably 3 months the most. I know, I know such a short time. But the rest of my hair did a total turn around in this short period of time. I followed someone else's advice on here about how to fill your edges in. I upped my moisture, and massaged with oils nightly and they were filled in and THICK in 3 weeks.

Is it long enough to put in small braids? My nape breaks more than any area of my hair. I started moisturizing it and keep it braided at all time.....(Even in my avatar) and it now reaches my shoulder. It used to be all kinds of chewed up.

Basically, i've left mine alone, and after years it's starting to grow, especially with not relaxing. I have maybe 1" stretched (transistioning)and that is saying something. If I don't moistureize my whole head, I moisturize the nape, heavily! Relaxers tore my nape up. I remember on more then one occassion touching my nape, and little pieces in my heads. It was so short and brittle, but now I am very gentle, keep it moisturized, and no-low manipulation. Is your nape rubbing on collars? I try to use ouch-less hair braids, to "lift" the nape hair, keeping it smooth looking.
