i don't want to but it just seems so much easier to maintain my relaxed hair. i just BCed 2 months ago and i have about 5 inches of natural hair. i originally went natural bc i wanted strength and to color my hair without double processing it. i haven't colored it, i'm still on the fence about that, but i do like how strong my hair is. i want to give it at least a year, but some days i want to give up. somebody say the magic word to help me over this hump. :help:

I don't know that I have any solid advice to help you over the hump.

I will say that whatever you decide, there's no condemnation. Experiment and don't feel guilty about what you decide. Don't feel like you have to be one way or the other.

Heck, if you wanna be natural for six months, do that.
If you wanna relaxer for a few years, do that.

We love you either way. Do what's best for the health of your hair.

Me.... I'm on my way to natural because relaxers tear my hair up.

I'm relaxed because it is what i want and the way I want to wear my hair; however, you have stated that you wanted something else for yourself. You transitioned and cut because you want natural hair which for you is stronger hair and because you want to color your hair. Right now, you sound a bit frustrated, but you want to be natural.

For a minute last summer I had five inches of natural hair at the end of my C&G period. It was hell to take care of. It tangled. I had no clue how to style it without using heat which I did not wish to do. So much work was involved in getting ready for work or, heaven forbid, going out. I had never intended to stay natural; I was waiting until I could relax, but I distinctly remember how much work was involved.

But you want to be natural! You want this. Once you relax, you start your natural journey all over - that's all of the months of work you just completed. Be strong; take a break; read a book; go to bed; back away from the relaxer. and no one gets hurt.

If you end up relaxing, that's totally cool, but I suggest you wait a week before you make your decision.

Whatever you decide, these Ladies here will support you, I think me and Dtexlaxed has been back and forth with Natural and Relaxing about 20 times, and each time we change our mind, we get support:yep: Don't make descisions when you are frustrated or angry, I too agree that you should give it a week. Take a Breather and just go and pamper your hair. What products are you using? and what is your Regimen? that way the Ladies can help you out more:yep:

The magic word is.... TWISTS.

Twists, flat-twists and twist-outs helped me through my natural journey. They weren't the only styles I wore, but they helped me keep my hands out of my hair.

You say you have 5 inches of hair, so surely you can wear almost any natural style out there. That's far more hair than what I had when I bc'd and I got through my first year with no problems --- besides being scissor happy.

Take a little more time to learn your natural hair before you relax it again. It's only been two months. What type of styles are you wearing right now?

Don't do it!!! :dizzy: I am currently 9.5 months into my transition and get tempted all the time to relax. What helps me is to bookmark my favorite fotkis so I can look at what my future may hold in the pics of all those gorgeous natural heads. Have you thought about braiding or weaving your hair to temporarily relieve the stress of how to manage your hair? Whenever the urge to relax is strong, I turn to braids. While you are braided/weaved, you can research and get advice from other naturals who are your length and texture. You can also look into getting your hair pressed until it grows longer and becomes easier to style/manage. HTH!!!

if you want your hair straight, why not invest in a good flat-iron, or go somewhere to get it pressed? that way you can fulfill your desire to have straight hair, without making any permanent changes that you might regret later.

relaxing compromises the strength of your strands, plus its irreversible.

oh and your magic word = "vestibule", (i like that word, maybe it'll help you out a bit? lol)
