Help! I\'m new!

Hi! I'm new to the board! I want to achieve healthy hair. Length would be nice, but healthy will do first! My hair is thin/fine and about chin length. Where do you recommend I start on my hair care journey? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

First, it would be great if you tell us your current hair regimen and the products you use as well as whether you are relaxed, natural, transitioning or texturized. That will give us a start on how to assist you.

When I first joined the board I started with hair that just barely covered my nape area. Now my hair is on its way to shoulder blades.

At first I just kept it simple by finding a good shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner. I would add on products as I got more comfortable.

The type of products you choose would depend on the condition of your hair. Tell us more about your hair and hair care routine and we will certainly help you on your way!

WELCOME ABOARD.
My hair has thickened up since doing conditioner washes, using Surge and taking biotin and b5.
I went thru a trial and error period trying different product that worked for my hair.
Remember what work for some does not work for others.

Re: Help! I\'m new!

My hair care regime consists of washing my hair at least once a week with Relaxed and Natural Pantene Pro-V Shampoo, conditioner, and wrap spray. I used Parvenu Leave-In conditoner. I would "grease" my scalp with Keracare Dry & Itchy Scalp Glossifier. I would then wrap my hair and sit under a hooded dryer, but my wrap would come out lifeless. Therefore, I'd end up flat ironing my hair to bump it. After all that, my hair looks and feels bogus for the first two days. On the third day, it looks ok. On the fourth and fifth days, it's dry and lifeless. Where should I go from here? Every month, I'd relaxer (retouch) my hair with Optimum Care No-Lye Relaxer or Dark and Lovely (depending what was on sale!

) My hair is chin length, but has broken off in the crown and bang area. I usually end up cutting my hair in a layered bob. What should I begin to do to start my journey towards healthy, longer hair?

It could be the no-lye relaxer that's breaking off your hair.

This could be part of the problem. No lye relaxer in known to be gentle to the scalp but drying for the hair in the longrun. Although some people have had success with it.

Sounds like you need to add some type of daily moisturizer to your rountine and minimize the heat.

It sounds like you relax your hair to often and that could me part of the problem too.
