I'm serious ladies...since I had those braids removed in August, I have yet to see any growth on my edges. In fact its thinner! Is it possible to permanently damage your hair follicles? I need tips ladies! Help my hair grow back:crying3: !

I had a similar experience from tree braids and micro braids, if you look at my photos in my signature you can see how my hairline has come back. I started a challenge and mostly I baby my edges and use ORS serum on them. I don't wear tight ponytails, I don't brush, and I don't wear a tight scarf. It took a couple months but my hairline was back to normal.

I have heard of some people visiting a dermatologist for this type of alopecia. I believe there is a member on the board that saw improvement from cortosone shots.

I hope this helps.

Yes! It is very possible to permanently damage the hair follicles especially those hairline ones. Have you tried stimulating that area? Cowashing on a regular basis? Any vitamins or topical treatments? What have you been doing to your hair since you noticed the thinning?

I have been co washing since July and nothing! I have recently started applying rosemary oil to the edges to see if that will help. I tried surge and I got this awful rash and had to stop. I was using MTG for a while, but wasn't convinced that it was doing anything for my hair so I stopped. Plus, I got lazy and did not feel like applying it anymore.

I am thinking of trying ORS or Nioxin Follicle booster to see if that will boost my growth.

I also considered using Jamaican Black castor oil, but my hair is really fine. I don't want to go around looking like a bald headed chicken!:lachen:

Trimbride your edges were a lil thin and you don came back strong:lol: .
Hopefully the OP will find a regime here and start stimulating that area back to health.

Thanks...If you can't tell I am really proud of myself...whenever I can I try to spread the word:lol: :look:

I don't have a solution for you but wanted to take a moment to caution the ladies about braids, particularly the micro and other tiny braids that start at the hairline and SWING. Unless you have very coarse, thick hair that can withstand anything akin to pulling a tractor  , braids will always snap and break the fragile edges no matter how careful you are.

If you can help it, find another style or method to protect your hair. I would do I full sew in weave before I did breads! Just my humble experience.

Hang in there. Your edges will come back if you had them before.
