Ok I just took out some braids and I want to apply cassia before my deep conditioning. This will be the first time that I have done it, so any help at this point will be helpful. I want to start in about an hour!

I just use water and a little olive oil and mix until its about the consistency of batter.

Are you going for color or condition w/ this cassia? If so, you'll need to let it sit for it to dye release for a few hours just like w/ henna. Basically you just mix it w/ water, conditioner, or whatever you desire to give it "slip" because it will help it rinse out easier.

I used to use cassia, I used oil and instant conditioner (whatever was lying around) mixed till it was a thick consistancy, maybe with a littel bit of water or green tea.

Ok great. I am going only for conditioning...no color! I think I am going to use some water, cholestorol condish, and a mix of olive oil, coconut oil and amla oil. (and maybe a little honey). How does that sound?

I don't want to wash my hair first like the direction say...should I? I usually apply my henna to dirty hair and it works perfectly.

Also, how long are you guys leaving the cassia on your hair? Should I use heat?

^^If your hair is fully dark (ie no greys), you'll see no color tho maybe some shine, but if you have greys you'll get yellowish-blondy visible color on the greys. It looks nice (it's sparkly), IMHO, but some people don't want their greys highlighted that way. Even if you don't want this, you can still use the cassia. Either don't dye release it (just wet it w/ whatever and use right away) or just use the dye released stuff for maybe 15-30 mins for conditioning.

I leave it in my hair (no heat) for an hour to two hours. I just mix it with water. Works great that way. Also, my hair is a very dark brown (appears to be black) and I get no color in my hair. It's not supposed to deposit anything on color that is dark anyway.

It does deposit color on dark hair, but it's just not very visible in normal light unless there are a few greys. Check it out, you'll see.

Just FYI for anyone new to cassia...think of it like henna. The same rules apply. Apply it w/ gloves, cover your work surfaces, etc...mix it up as you would w/ henna, etc.

Ok so guys I mixed it with water, amla oil, coconut oil, olive oil, cholestorol condish and this other creamy cheapie condish. It turned out very smooth and creamy and I applied it in notime. I'm going to leave it on for about an hour with no heat. I took picures and will keep you guys update. Thanks sooooooo much for the last minute help!

What do you guys do after you rinse out your cassia?

I plan to rinse, wash with shikakai shampoo bar, then CON shampoo, condish and detangle, then deep condition with Pantene Relaxed and natural breakage defense deep condish mask. Does this sound ok?
