I need to get a touch up and I had a really bad touch up two months ago now my hair is under processed which caused more breakage. I want to find a stylist thar will be careful w/my hair. Please!! I searched on the broad and havent found much. Does anyone have a great stylist thats into health hair. I would be sooo greatful.

I live in northern N.J. as well and I'm also looking for a good stylist. I'm about to start going to a salon in Brooklyn or Harlem until I can find a closer stylist.

I'm looking for the Dominicans in Newark or Jersey City. I'd like to have my hair done for my father's birthday this weekend. ;)

I wish I was in your position!!!

Girrrl, if I were you I'd take the bus to New York and go to BK. Man, you'd probably actually end up saving money... There's a hair salon on every corner...:)

a lot of ny ladies cold hook you up... kinikakes comes to my mind

Good luck!!

:( Sorry I can't help you ladies ... I'm in NJ and for the last year or so I've been sticking by my chica favorita in the dominican salon to do all my perms and rollersets. I used to go to the AA salon but the time you spend is ridiculous and sometimes so are the prices. The girl I used to go to is in Maplewood. She's very good but has a high clientele and she's always busy. Can't put in a bid with the hairdresser.

When I lived in Jersey, for a long time, I refused to go to a stylist there, to the point that I'd make trips to MD every 3 or 4 months for my touch ups. After a couple years, I finally started going to my classmate's stylist, after noticing how fast her hair had started growing, and how healthy it was. I went to her for roller wraps/doobies and for my touch ups. During the time she was my stylist, my hair did very well. If I remember correctly, she uses two relaxers, one of which is affirm. When you first visit her, she will talk to you and assess your hair, to determine which relaxer would be best for your hair. Then she tracks your visits, and what she has used on your hair in her book. Her name is Bayyinah, and she has her own salon (B Chic Hair Salon) in Union, near route 22. 908-686-4247. She's very professional and personable.

Thank you so much, InsatiableMe! My father used to live off 22 West, so I think I know exactly where this is. I will definitely look into this...

No problem. If you do end up going to her, please let me know how you liked her. And should you get into a discussion about how you heard about her, my name's Jennifer. :)
