Help! How do I nurse back dry, relaxed, colored, overprocessed hair???

Please help ladies! I need your expertise! :yep:

I have a friend who's hair is dry and brittle from relaxing and coloring. For the past 4 years, I was telling her about all of our techniques, minimal heat, stretching relaxers, dustings, etc., and her hair was flourishing! It was so long (bra strap), sleek, bouncy, and very healthy!

Well, she insisted on coloring it blond about a year and a half ago (she has a thing with Beyonce, I tried to explain that's a lacefront :perplexed), and slowly but surely, the color has broken her hair off, and made it very dry to the touch. :nono: What's worse, she perms it every 4-6 weeks and won't put any type of moisture in it b/c she thinks that it makes her hair heavy. She's the kind of person that has always had long hair, and doesn't understand why her hair is breaking off now (it's currently shoulder length). She also uses no-lye relaxers, and I'm trying to convince her to switch to lye b/c her hair is so dried out.

Sooooo.....can I get you ladies' suggestions on a good relaxer, treatments, and light daily moisturizes to nurse her hair back to health? She's not at the point of no return just yet, but she will be if someone doesn't do an intervention! I've finally got her to the point where she'll listen to me, so I need advice fast b/c we're going to do her hair on Monday! Thanks.

Hi I colour and I'm texlaxed first things first get her to DC at least once a week- not to overwhelm her try and get her some protein based conditioners and a strong moisture one - it sounds like right now she needs a lot of moisture- but her double processed hair needs protein so try to balance it out.

I don't know if she minds spending on her hair- if not everyone swears by Pantene relaxed and natural mask (personally haven't used it) you can get her the Aussie 3 minute mask and a good and cheap balanced DC is Lustrasilk shea butter, A good light leave-in (for me) is Giovanni direct leave in she only needs a teeny bit -to keep her inspired visit jenteel's fotki and Macherie's site is always good for visuals (www.healthytextures.com) HTH and good luck with it!

Thanks for the tips. She doesn't mind spending on her hair. I was thinking maybe Elucence relaxer and products, or something along that line. She's a little over the drugstore cheapies right now, so I want to really get her on some quality products that work.

If she uses no lye, has she been using a chelating shampoo to get rid of the mineral deposits? Doing that will allow any products and treatments to work their best.

Moisturizing and sealing daily is a MUST if her hair is dry.

Is she willing to cut the color ends off?
