Help... How bad is Ammoniun Chloride In a Semi hair rinse?

Ammonia is what allows the color to last longer than one shampoo. Peroxide in hair color is what makes permanent color so damaging to relaxed hair. Ammonia is a necessary evil for depositing the color. So just stay on top of your moisture/protein levels, and you should be fine.

I just got a touch-up Thursday, Is this rinse safe to use on Tuesday?

The ammonium chloride is listed 18th in the 27 ingredients in this rinse...

Semi-permanent color can even be used the same day as a touch-up, so yes to your question.

You should try searching "semi-permanent" or "rinse". There are plenty of threads on what other ladies have done.

HTH :)

Personally LadyZ, I would just try another rinse.

I wouldn't risk it. Ammonia is one of the harshest things you can use on your relaxed strands.

Try Adore rinse (in the purple bottle). It is my favorite.

I don't know if it is the Adore that makes my hair shiny, but when I flat iron it it is shiny. I think it's moreso my serum (aveda brilliant) and leave-in (sunsilk TLC cream).

I like it because the color is very rich. Now, the day after I apply (I airdry with a silk scarf) I do see the color staining on the scarf (not on the pillow tho). I switched to a black scarf now tho.

But thank gawd, it doesn't stain on shirts or my pillowcases.

Ok I might have to try it out and see what it do

My bad LadyZ, Locks is right a/b the ammonia. Silly me, I am doing too much at one time. Ammonia is usu. in permanent colors and that's what can make relaxed hair so dry afterwards (along w/the peroxide). It's got mad staying power, and you have to stay on your moisture/protein levels or else your hair goes bye-bye. Esp. if you wanted to go lighter. Peroxide is what gives the color more staying power, longer than one shampoo.

So yeah, run away from the ammonia.

Again, sorry a/b the mix-up :perplexed
