Help, have breakage and planning to use Hard Protein

Ok so guys, I have been having lots of breakage for the past week:sad::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:, and I plan to use hard protein, just need some advice.

So I plan to wash my hair, then put Nexxus emergencee on it. Then go under the dryer for like 10 minutes. My problem is that when it hardens I know you are not supposed to touch it right?

So do you just rinse it with water; does the water soften it enough. How long do you rinse it water before you can touch it. Do you have to apply conditioner for it to soften, if so I don't know how to apply conditioner without touching my hair.

These questions might sound really dumb, but I have breakage, and I am scared that all my hair will fall off if I don't do this right

Help, please!!!!

Well first, are you sure the breakage is due to lack of protein? What is your regimen like?

I was having breakage issues the other day and a Aphogee treatment stopped it dead in it's tracks. I do weekly treatments.

It's unlikely your hair will fall off; however, to use Emergencee, you really just need to follow the directions. Clean hair, apply, and when you rinse, do so until you think the conditioner is out, and then rinse again. After you do this, blot hair with a towel to absorb excess water, and then apply a deep moisturizing conditioner, bag the head, back under the dryer, and then back into the shower.

Make sure that you use a moisturizing conditioner after a heavy protein treatment.

Thanks guys, but I was reading about people who use it under the dryer and wait for it to harden; they all said they got much better results this way. Anyone use it this way?

Hi Yuriko - you can use it either way - with a cap under the dryer or let it dry in your hair. I have used it both ways and had great results...as long as it is in your a hair a minimum of 10 minutes/follow up with a good moisturizing dc - you will be fine

Don't be scared emeregencee rocks!

Wash ur hair.....put emergence on make sure u saturate the tips well.....under the dryer 10-15 minutes.....you can touch it, you just can't comb thru it or manipulate ur hair......rinse with warm water until you don't feel any residue on your hair...dc with something moisturizing and go from there......hhg

I use emergencee weekly and this is the method I use! Works great!!!

when you go to rinse, I don't even touch my hair at first, but move my head around so the water can soften up and loosen my hair. I then carefully lift up strands to help the water rinse very well. Once you think you've rinsed well.... rinse some more.

Then apply a really good deep conditioner and proceed from there doing what you would do as usual. I personally use Dudley's DRC but the steps are just the same. Also, don't use this treatment too often (perhaps 6+ weeks apart?) I only use Dudley's when needed, not even 6+ weeks. Too much protein too often will also cause breakage.

If you are sure that this treatment will remedy your breakage (I repeat, if you're sure) then you'll do fine! Just follow instructions on the bottle and read these repsonses.

If it breaking why are u using protein??? IMHO, I think you should opt for a moisturizing cond until the breakage stops.

When my hair starts breaking, I do a heavy protein treatment as well. I know what my hair is in need of though. :look:

Emergencee is great! I use it they same way some of the other ladies do also. Get under the dryer with no cap until it hardens. Rinse well, and then DC with something very moisturizing. Helps every time.

Co-signing. I did an Emergencee treatment, and then for maintaining the balance I have used Keraphix weekly ever since. No breakage, no mushiness, no stretching. I think these 2 products whipped my moisture/protein balance issues.

I had the same problem and the Emergencee stopped it right away. I usually apply conditioner after washing out the Emergencee. You can touch the hair, nothing will happen. I after applying the conditioner I detangle with my big comb. I hope this helps.

Thanks guys. Well I know I am a wimp, so thanks for bearing with me. I will be taking the big plung now, just about to jump in the shower and wash my hair. Will tell yall all about the results, thanks again

Ok so I did it, I washed first, patted with a towel, and then applied the emergencee, I stayed under the dryer (no plastic cap) for about 20 minutes (only stayed this long, because I lost track of time). My hair was hardened; i rinsed with just water and was able to feel the softness of my hair again, I used a cheapie conditioner to make sure it was soft before I started manipulating, then I did a super long DC. It came out looking great, I will definitely be doing this again in 6 weeks!
Thanks ladies

I'm glad everything worked out for you! I know when I was a newbie, doing the Aphogee 2 step was such a scary ordeal! But I got through it and now hardcore proteins are no biggie!

Does anyone use it as a prepoo?

I wouldn't suggest using a prepoo. I actually would suggest using a clarifying or chelating shampoo prior to doing a hardcore protein treatment because you want to rid your hair of any buildup. YOu want the protein to really penetrate your strands and be effective.
