I got cornrows with extension on wednesday, a ponytail with bangs to the right, in order to protect my thin and extremely fragile hairline. I have been moisturizing with an Infusium 23, glycering and rosewater mix 2x daily and rubbing some palm christi oil on the edges. The braids were firm, but not so tight that I got a headache. Anyway, my hairline, especially on the right side has been itching badly since yesterday. I applied a bit of tea tree oil overnight, and also today wiped with a cotton pad soaked in tcp and then tea tree oil. I notice there are some bumps on the itching parts, and I am scared this will lead to the loss of the little hair I have managed to grow on this part. :wallbash:Right now, as I am typing this, I have applied a bit of the cortisone shampoo my doctor recommended to the itching bits, and I am going to shampoo my head and spray with diluted ACV later.

Does anyone have any other advice? Could it be that I am reacting to the braiding hair? If that is the case, how come the itch is mainly on the right side of my head that is so fragile. I am grateful for any tips.

I tried braids twice and had the same thing happen..and had to take them out after like a week each time.....But I was broken out in my scalp and everywhere the braids touched...on my face, neck....I found out I was allergic to synthetic hair...when I had them redone with Human hair I never had the problem again...Not saying this is what is causing it for you....but that was the case for me....Mine was not limited to the hairline but everywhere they touched my skin I itched like crazy....

I know this is a horrible feeling and very uncomfortable...I hope you get it figured out and get some relief soon

I know these ladies will offer you some great advice

I read here that the synthetic hair should be soaked in acv then washed lightly w/ a mild shampoo before being used to braid. For the itchiness, either take the hair out b/c it may do some damage or try spraying water on the hairline. Hth
