HELP!! Can naturals do a rollerset??

It just takes practice - don't fret......

I have a couple of methods...........

Doing a ponytail set with large rollers.... To calm the hair down a bit....

Dry under the hood...

Then Flexi rod or rollerset, again......... this takes more time - But will give you a good effect.....

I did the saran wrap thing - Uh - I had naps instantly......So I cannot do that..

Or.................

Banding and allowing the hair to air dry.......

Then rollerset.

OR.......
Rollerset - and then Sedu the roots....

I don't use the teeth part of the comb, only the rattail end. Don't give up! My hairdresser could give me the best rollersets. However, after purchasing the Pibbs....I needed a return on investment, plus I didn't like the products she used.

I can now duplicate the set without having to touch up the roots with a flatiron. It's just that falling the mohawk pattern for placing the rollers didn't work for my head. I decide to go with how I comb my hair for styling...which follows the natural shape of my head.

Samantha all of those ideas sound great too! i likethe pony set with the rollers too to calm the hair down and then flex rod. will it get any straighter even tho it has been dried already when using the flex rods? I guess im a lil confused as to how it will get any straighter if its dry already?

Oh okay.. cause i usually let my hair airdry using the "mack ten" method.. part it down the middle and secure the hair down with bands on both sides so they hang like pocahontas. thats who i think i got that method from anyway..she has some great info on her profile to. so i will try this way as well cause it make the hair stretch out alot more than a natural air dry. what size and color flex rods are u buying?

My hair is layered so I bought several different sizes. I used yellow, gray, and purple.

I like the sound of that "mack ten" method. I did something similar with my braidout and it turned out really cute, but I didn't secure the hair (I just put it in two braided ponytails) or tie it down with a scarf, so I'll have to try it that way next time!

Also.... Sunshine u said u buy 4 packs. how may rods come in one pack?

What is a mack ten????

I think that with hair a bit dryer - you have more control over the hair to get it straight. Use your smoothing products, etc...

Mack 10 this is a previous explaination of it... - "Oh okay.. cause i usually let my hair airdry using the "mack ten" method.. part it down the middle and secure the hair down with bands on both sides so they hang like pocahontas. thats who i think i got that method from anyway..she has some great info on her profile to. so i will try this way as well cause it make the hair stretch out alot more than a natural air dry."

Okay i will use my smooth down products to see if it will work. do u use the dryer again? after u roll?

I read on a thread that anyone who uses henna CANNOT use Phytolaxer. Has anyone used Phyhtolaxer after using henna or had used henna in the last year? If so what happened to your hair? bonjour

Mrs. the Bronx,

Have you thought of using mesh rollers. I cannot get the hang of the magnetic. The thing that I love about Mesh rollers is that you can get good tension which would really help to straighten natural hair....

Please look at this tutorial......

http://www.long-healthy-hair-advisor.com/roller-set-natural-hair.html

It goes over why mesh can be beneficial, and has great instructions and pictures. This has inspired me to try to do this on my daughters hair Sunday-she has natural curly hair:yep:. Good luck! I know it can be achieved.

^^^^The girl in the demo is a natural and she is a member of this board but I can't think of her name.

I tried mesh rollers but I had problems keeping the pins in. I used mesh rollers in a ponytail set and it looked nice.

practice makes perfect.

you did Samantha?!?!? Where did u get them from? how much were they and how many did u buy? sorry for all the questions... LOL!

Don't forget the pins!
