My girlfriend just hit me up on AIM saying she's having a hair emergency. She took her braids out and her her is messed up. She says it's tangled, almost matted. I've never had braids before, IDK what to tell her. She's on her way to my apt. now, any tips?

Before wetting detangle with fingers. After the water & con, detangle with fingers & then with wide-tooth comb!
Spritz conditioner & water on the hair & gently seperate & untangle the hair.
Do a hot oil pre-ptreatment for about 1hr (it's late) & gently wash the wash as normal.

Thanks girl! I had to improvise....so I had her wash with my EQP CCS and then she's deep conditioning right now with Humectress and EVOO....hopefully that works.

i hope that she detangled fully before she washed, or she's in for a big surprise when she gets out of the shower...

It should...
The main thing is to take her time detangling. She should use her fingers first & then the wide-tooth. That should help limit the breakage!

So here is what happened...she had braids in and took them out and then followed up with a Just for Me relaxer. Then she clarified and conditioned with the NTM Hair Mask. After that, she didn't comb out her hair and went to play basketball. When she came home her hair had two big tangled knots and was super dry. So, we shampooed and then she sat under the dryer for 20 min. with Humectress and EVOO. We finger combed first, then combed with a wide-toothed comb. We were able to comb some of the knots out but she did loose some chunks of hair. Luckily, after she rinsed it out and we combed again the tangles were gone and we couldn't visibly see where there were chunks of hair missing. I have never seen hair matted like that before. Hopefully I helped her.

I'm glad it all worked out! So hopefully she will comb out next time... Skipping "small steps" can lead to big heartbreaks. :look:
