Hello!!

AngelicRose07

back from years of hiatus
used to be a regular on here, many... many moons ago. getting back into the hair boards because now i live in an environment that is VERY humid (costa rica) and it is presenting new challenges for me to learn how to keep my hair straight. So, looking forward to any advice you guys have because a poof-fro on me is just honestly not cute! haha.

Welcome back! No advice on how to deal with the humidity, hopefully someone will chime in. Costa Rica sounds amazing

What a great hair-growing environment! I don't think that there is any way to avoid humidity though. Embrace your curls and curly styles unless you are in air conditioning constantly. Maybe someone who lives in Florida may have some tips.

And welcome back!

Embrace your curls or give a try to shea butter and castor oil as a hair pomade, cause i've read in lots of articles that they are anti-humectant.

Unfortunately i am not living in an environment that allows me to have 45 mins a day to attempt to TAME these curls. and they arent exactly uniform. top is wavyish, bottom is super curly. idk haha. i would love to though. i am thinking of wearing a wet, gelled bun though. those are easy :)

do bantu knot, twistouts, braidouts, roller/flexi/perm rod sets.....you may have heat damage from wearing your hair primarily straight. that could be why you have sections that are wavy as opposed to curly. :yep::grin: welcome back!

oh yea, thanks everyone for the welcome :)

and i had a friend recommend this stuff http://www.livingproof.com/no-frizz/how-to-use. said she went to south carolina for a few days and it stays straight. has anyone tried it?

I have used aobut 5 products from the Living Proof line, and it's an awesome line. I used the humidity this summer when we were having high humidity and it worked really well for me. Of course our humidity is no where close to what yours is, but still give Living Proof a try.

I understand your frustration. I lived in Okinawa and the humidity was no joke! I ended up manipulating my hair too much trying to wear twist-outs and braid-outs because I had to retwist/braid every night; and wash n gos & wet buns never dried. :nono: I would recommend twists and braid styles. I put in some mini twists that lasted me 3 weeks. Also, chunky twists in an up-do are always cute.:yep:

thanks for the suggestions, i am definitely trying to see what type of natural style would work the best for me. ill make sure to pay attention to not over-manipulate
