NOEChic

I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.
My name is Michiko and I got this site off of another forum that I frequent. Right now my hair is free of all relaxer I just did the BC 12 Sept 06. My hair is very short. I am currently 4a/4b, and not all of it is s-curled or wavey. I have a lot of fuzz in my hair. The products that I use are Blended Beauty. My hair soaks up a lot of moisture and I can grease it all day and night and it still will look dry. I work/live around a lot of white people and they are always asking me what am I doing with my hair. And this one particular black lady keeps saying that I just need to get a perm and be done w/ it. I just get so discouraged.

I know that this is a somewhat long post, but I just wanted to say hello!

Hey girlie!

Ignore the negative energy and do what's right for YOU. I know that easier said than done, but each person's choice of hair style should be for self, not others.

Regardless of what you're looking to do (relax, stay natural, grow long, get healthy), you'll find a plethora of good advice and warm women who want to help you here at LHCF.

Good luck!

Co-signing what she said! And welcome to the board. :)

Thank you all for the warm welcome and words of encouragement!

Welcome Michiko!

Don't worry about those people who try to discourage you. I can't believe someone said to get a perm and just be done with it. What is a perm on very short natural hair gonna do? People these days. I've had people say negative things about my hair as well but I didn't let it get to me because I was happy with just simply having natural hair and being free from chemical relaxers.

Take care! Happy hair growing and best wishes to you on your natural hair journey! Let me know if you need any help or advice. :)

Thanks, I really really need some natural products that moisturize and promote my curl patern and also promotes growth. It also has to be cheap lol. I live in a predominate white town and there is no black beauty supply store out here. I am looking on this site and all these products that everyone is promoting is makeing my head spin.

Welcome to LHCF

I have to agree with the other posters who said ignore the negativity, some ppl hate to see others doing good for themselves, that's just how they are. Once your hair starts to flourish they'll kill themselves trying to find out what your using.

How does Blended Beauty make your hair feel? Maybe its not the right product for you. Maybe its just coating without moisturizing. You also have to remember that natural hair tends to have sheen not shine, so it can look 'dry' while not actually being it.

Some products that I will recommend b/c I love what they've done for me is:

Qhemet Biologics Alma and Olive Oil Heavy Cream: I love to moisturize with this before I twist and I also use it when I'm doing wash and go's
Herbal Essence Hello Hydration conditioner: One of the best conditioners I've ever used. I love it
Avocado Butter: My new winter butter, it nice and heavy and great for keeping moisture in my hair
Jojoba Oil: A light oil that penetrates the hair strands easily

For growth some ladies go the supplement route(i.e. MSM, Biotin, Flaxseed Oil, etc.) others go topical(i.e MTG or other sulphur based products, MN, etc)

However, its all trial and error, what works for some might not work for others

where can I get these products. I can tell you know, my local walmart and target does not carry these items. And that is what makes it so hard for me to do the trial and error. I can not just go to the store and pick it up.

Welsome to the board!! Don't let anyone discourage you about the choice you made. Many people had something to say to me after I cut my hair, but now that it's healthier, thicker and longer than it ever was they either comment on how healthy it looks or say nothing at all. Only you know what's best for yourself :)

I think your hair is beautiful. People call be negative at times and it can be discouraging. I know negative ppl can suck the enrgy out of you. You never know which one of em is secrtetly plotting to transition, as they try to sabatoge your progress. Ignore them and do your thing!

Avocado Butter and other healthy hair butters can be found at

http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com

The prices are reasonable and I find the products to be above average and in quality. I always get my orders in a timely fashion and sometimes they'll have things you really like in clearance.

Walmart or Target should carry Herbal Essence, other "mainstream" products you can try are Aussie Moist, Pantene Hydrating Curls, Pantene Frizz Control, Suave Milk and Honey, Suave Biobasics, Nexxus Humectress(I think Walmart Carries this now), and Garnier Fructis Curl and Shine.

Check CVS or Sally's for brands too. I love the Generic Paul Mitchell Conditioner as a detangler, it works wonders on my 4a hair.

Welcome to the board and I hope we learn and share much with each other.
