Hello everyone. I'm still a newbee so please be patient with me. I don't know what type of hair I have but I can tell it is difficult. I really never paid too much attention to my hair until I experimented with it by highlighting it the a week later colored it some type of blond. I relaxed my hair every 4-6 weeks (at home or at dominican salon). Sometimes wash and set other times wash-n-go (baaaad:eek: ) My hair was at bsl when I started the experiment, it is now at a little past shoulder length:mad: . I had to cut because hair is now extremely damaged. So now, of course, I'm paying more attention to my hair.

I'm using protien shampoo and balsam conditioner from Salerm.
Sebastian 2+1 deep cond.
AG cosmetics, fast food leave-in
Keracare setting lotion( for when I roller set at home)
Elasta QP mango butter moisterizer
Nexxus heat safe
Nexxus humidity block and shine
Biosilk serum

Can anyone please give me some advice on if I'm using too many products. Should I use products from the same line or is it okay to mix. I have no pics avail for now but they will be coming soon.

Thanx

I am no longer relaxed but when I was I never had a problem with using too many products, or products from a different line. Hopefully a relaxed lady can chime in because I've never used any of the products you mentioned.

Wow, it sounds like you've fried your hair right off (with highlights, coloring and relaxing WAY too frequently).

At first glance, the products that you are using look okay EXCEPT that you need a protein CONDITIONER or treatment. Something heavy duty. Your hair is breaking because it doesnt have the strength that the protein provides- just my 2 cents.

Some protein treatments are :

Aphogee
Nexxus Keraphix
Nexxus Therapee(I think?)

The other ladies will chime in.

Thanx ladies for the advice. I thought the Nexxus 2+1 was a protein conditioner. I might be wrong. I'm so desperate to get my hair in healthy condition that I let someone talk me into spending almost $30 for it. I will try the Nexxus Keraphix. I've seen mentioned here alot.

If your hair is colortreated, then you need a conditioner that it formulated for color-treated hair. Also, u may want to get a clear gloss rinse to protect your cortex. Were you able to successfully take care of your hair BEFORE you colored?

Just started regime about 3 weeks ago (a brand newbee) I wash my hair every 7 days. Mainly at dominican salon. I use the sebastian 2+1 conditioner every 14 days (applied with flat iron wrapped with aluminum paper) I just started to use the Salerm shampoo and conditioner. I set my hair with rollers at home (my stylist is on vacation) for the first time this week using Keracare setting lotion and leave-in cond. (ag cosmetics, fast food) I think I used too much setting lotion though.

do you have any suggestions for brands to use for a clear rinse? is it best to get this at a salon or at home?

I agree with some of the other ladies who mentioned that a good protein treatment like apoghee could help stop the breakage.

Also get some roux porosity control for use after you relax (and before if you want to). That stuff is like magic. As you can see in my siggy...I did a lot of chemical treatments back to back. (big no no). I'm sure that the porosity control is the reason I'm not bald headed.
