I need some help. I work out 4-5 days a weeks and because I drink so much water during the course of the day. I sweat; of which comes out in my head. My hair is totally wet and I have to wash it 2-3 times a week maybe more. The problem is my hair needs to be bumped with a flat iron in the morning for style. I don't want to damage may hair, however it looks like I have no choice. I'm 11 wks into my relaxer and I can not do the ponytail because of the style at this time.

Please help!!!

Try sleeping in bantu knots or pincurls. I used to have to bump all the time until I did one of these along with tying up with a silk scarf. HTH.

Like you, I workout regularly (3 to 4 times/week), and I sweat a lot in my head. Since, I don't use direct heat at all, I had to make some adjustments to my hair routine. So now, I no longer do long stretches...I relax every 8 weeks. Also, before I workout (in the evenings), I put my hair in a bun and tie my edges down with a satin scarf. By morning, my hair is dry so I just neaten up my bun and go.

HTH

I work out several times a week as well (6 days a week, about 2-3 hours a day), for me I alternate between wearing my hair out or wearing it up a few times a week.

What works for me are several things. If I wear my hair straight like right after a wash, I'll lightly pin my hair up into an updo, with a claw clip, banana clip, or something similar. I'm getting some HairZings in the mail so that will be even better. I dont get any breakage from my hair tools thankfully. When I get home I simply wrap my hair, then cover with saran wrap and sit under the dryer for 10-15 mins. I make sure to moisturize and seal before getting under the dryer, my hair comes out soft and bouncy again. I usually leave it like that til the next day.

If I have a roller set then sometimes I pin curl, workout, let em dry, then let it out, finger comb and go.

Then there are the times when I already have my hair in an up do and I don't have to worry about a thing, which is always easier, lol.

ETA: I SWEAT LIKE A PIG!!! In my head, all over the place, and I look like I stepped out of the shower, lol. So I can relate!

Do you ladies wash or rinse your hair after every workout? I'm worried leaving the sweat in my hair will dry my strands out.

I wash my hair faithfully 2x a week. Usually Sun and Thurs. For me daily washing takes up a lot of time and I have a crazy schedule, here and there I will throw in a 3rd wash that's an air dried CO wash and I apply a lot of leave in with some additional SAA, moisturize and go.

I workout alot too and I SWEAT! I am natural and bun. Its not a pretty picture when Im done. And to top it off, I work out in the middle of the day and have to go back to work. I tie it down while i work out and pray the sweat mixes with the Giovanni Direct. Before I hit the office its in some sort of shape but not as good as it was in the morning.

I was also going to suggest wrapping your hair. You can try just wrapping it tightly and going to sleep. In the morning, hopefully it would be set nicely.

Additionally, as a styling option, if your hair is short enough, you can wash and wrap it, sit under the dryer. That way you can avoid direct heat entirely. Maybe alternate that with roller sets.

I workout 5-6 days a week and unfortuanately I'm head sweater too (I just made that term up :lachen:). I usually bun (I'm natural) but if I'm wearing a rollerset, I just pin curl and proceed to workout. I prefer not to tie my hair first as it just gets extra sweaty :perplexed. After the workout I'll shower and just let my hair air dry. The next morning I'll moisturize and undo the pin curls and my hair looks fine.

Also I try to rollerset the day before an "off" day (i.e. if I'm not working out on Monday, I'll rollerset on Sunday). This gives me a little more time to have a fresh 'do. :gorgeous:

I haven't noticed any dryness b/c of the sweat. I think as long as you moisturize properly and wash at least 2x a week you'll be fine. I also co-wash at some point during the week too.
