I like to have conversations with myself out loud. I do this when my morale is low for anything. Maybe hearing out loud why not using heat is so important will get you back on the right track. I may even add a little self-chastising into it.
Walk away from the blowdryer, tlmack. /images/graemlins/sekret.gif
How are you styling your hair when you don't use heat? Are you just bored with those styles and wanting a change? Not everyone has to give up heat to have healthy hair.
Try reminding yourself why you gave up using heat in the first place. Has your hair changed for the better since you gave it up? I have to remind myself why I don't use heat regularly. There's times that I miss my straight hair. If the craving for straight hair lasts after I've given it serious thought, then I get a blowout. /images/graemlins/smile.gif After that week is over, I get back on the no-heat horse and ride it into the sunset.
I haven't used heat since July, 2003 and I don't miss it although I would like to see what my hair looks like straight one of these days. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif I wear styles that don't require heat or a straight look.
I wore my hair naturally curly for 3 weeks straight. I normally either wear it half down and half up (i.e. up would be a french roll, or bun) or I'll where it all in a bun. The problem is when I wake up my hair is a matted mess. I MUST rewet it every day. I shreik at the amount of hair I lose in the shower each morning and finally when I get it straightened with a blow out, I have little knots in some areas from the naturally curly style that don't come out and I have to pull/cut out.
Ugggggghhhhh
Frustrating.
So I seem to want to wear it straight but I need to avoid the heat in order to grow it.
It's challenging. I don't want to relax it.
I appreciate your support.
I got it blown out today and have already pulled out a couple of knots. One was so big, I was really upset.
On top of that, I realize that I won't get another 4" by March, so I think I"ll have to push my goal out until August which sucks!
It seems kind of depressing lately. Maybe it's the Michigan weather.
It took me a while to get used to not using heat. But you know what? If you are not using a LOT of heat, it shouldn't hurt your hair too much.
It seems like you would like to wear your hair straight sometimes. I still haven't mastered how to get my hair straight without using a blowdryer unless I do airdry in a rollerset or wet wrap. I know some ladies here can get their hair straight doing the ponytail method. HTH!
