Merry Christmas everyone.

It's with great sadness and regret that I write to you all today. I have been transitioning to natural for the 16 months and on Tuesday, I got my hair washed and set by and evil woman. (Short Version in bold)

For the most part I blame me because I went to the salon out of desperation. I just took my weave down and washed and DC'd and went to her for a wash, set and flat iron.

I should have hightailed it out of there when she said that she had no flat irons but I stayed. She used the Marcel Iron the wrong way, with no heat protectant. :wallbash: I left and paid for the services but didn't tip.

In sum, I haven't washed my hair yet but I know it's heat damaged. I can smell it still. My hair smells like a forest was on fire and people around me smell it too. Someone asked me if I went to Korean BBQ and I lied and said "yes".

So what now? I want to wash my hair tomorrow, or Sunday. I kind of want to wash it today but I have a dinner party tonight and I do not have any falls/wigs.

I was planning on washing with CON or Aveda and doing a protein like DuoTex but I recently ran out!

I don't really have a really good, one-shot moisturizing DC. .. I feel hopeless ... my progress is gone!

You live and you learn. Don't sweat it! It's the holiday so enjoy it while it last.
You can run to the stores when they open back up tomorrow and get what you need to DC your hair.

If you have some aloe vera gel or juice, douse your hair in that and wrap it in plastic and let it sit for a half hour, that leaves my hair feeling scrumptious (I use a heat cap).

^^ lemmie alone!! LOL.. I HAD to! I'm sure the girl that asked could not understand (Indian).

I told my non-black boyfriend from Seattle and while he felt bad for me, he just didn't/can't understand wht the big deal was.. lol..he was like... You can go back to the salon on Monday.. He's nuts

Sorry this happened to you. Something similar happened to me. My aunt, who is a licensed cosmetologist (and non-black) flat-ironed my hair on the highest setting without heat protectant. Although she did a fabulous job with the press, I felt my hair was heat damaged. I waited about a week before I washed and deep conditioned my hair, and things weren't too bad (I was about 5 months post relaxer). My NG curled up again, and after the second week it was back to the way it was before. Just DC and nurture your hair back to health after your next wash. Your hair will bounce back, and it was only one time damage. It probably would have been more serious if you made it a regular custom to flat-iron your hair without heat protectant.

Don't panic. Since you have not washed your hair, yet, you don't know you have heat damage. Your hair is probably OK. Just refuse to go back to that stylist and if you go to another one, INSIST on heat protector. Bring your own, if you don't trust them.:lachen: I hope all works out for you.:yep::rosebud:
