Heat Cap vs Bonnet Dryer

Hi Ladies-

So while DC'ing this morning my trusty bonnet dryer gave out:perplexed. I got more than my monies worth out of it considering I've had it since 1999 . And it was EXTRA cheap but did the job. For the past 2 years the Low/off/High button no longer worked. I'd just plug it in and it would come on, on the high setting.:lachen:

Now I'm considering getting a heat cap instead of another bonnet dryer and wanted to get a few opinions from you ladies on which you prefer....And please feel free to go into detail as to why your choice is your preference..TIA

I have and LOVE both! I rotate using them depending on my mood. The heat cap is more close to the head which gives me a really intense dc-ing and the soft bonnet dryer is not as close to the head which does great also w/ dc-ing. I really love them both but sometimes I use my heat cap more to dc just b/c it's right there as oppose to take the dryer out the box...I know lazy... :-/

They really both do great but one is strictly for dc-ing and the other you can use to dry your roller sets as well..so if I had to chose I probably would pick the one that can be used for more then one purpose...but in all I do love them both! HTH

I just got the Micro Heat Cap (turban style) from salonweb.com and it changed my life! I'm fun size (5'2") and the hooded tabletop dryer was just not getting it. I also refuse to sit on books soooo yeah. I absolutely LOVE my heat cap and now I know why everyone was raving about it so much. Also it allows me to do other things but get in my all important DC sessions (I have a 4 month old dd to run after). MICRO HEAT CAP ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!

I Love My Mastex Heat Cap ! :blush3: But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR STEAMER ! ! ! !:cloud9:

From my knowledge of the Bonnet Dryer, it is blowing heat in. Whereas, The Heat Cap is a baking Heat and the Steamer, moistly steams the heat in.

I like both.

Soft bonnets are good for DCing and spiral curling. I can do both those things and take a nap while the dryer is doing its thing. My last one overheated and blew up b/c while laying in the bed while drying some spirals, I didnt turn it upside down and it overheated.

I like the Pbbs that I have for rollersets b/c sitting under a hard or soft bonnet would tke 3 or 4 hours for my hair to dry. :nono:

So in essence it depends on what you are using each tool for that will determine which one is better..

I have both. I used the my hood dryer for DC'ing before I got my heat cap. I prefer the heating cap. My DC's come out better and my hair feels softer when using the heating cap.

I like both. My Hair Therapy wrap is so that I can be mobile and do Dcs at the same time. The LCL dryer is for styles that need to be set as well as protein treatments.

I loved my Gold N Hot heat cap when I had it. It was quiet and I didn't get hot under it. However, after 4 years it died. So I bought a Mastek to replace it because I thought it would be better. But my head was too big for it and it didn't feel like it conditioned my hair. So it will eventually end up in the Exchange area for sale. So I bought another Gold N Hot and it seemed to be the same as the Mastek. So I took it back and the lady talked me into getting the Gold N Hot Bonnet Dryer. I really wasn't feeling it but after using it a few times I am starting to like it. It is loud so I can't watch tv, but it has nice settings for conditioning. And now I can do a rollerset without having to sit under the regular dryer.

Last year I would have said heat cap. This year I'm going with bonnet dryer.

I have a HOT cap (that mug could cook a roast). But I am looking to get a bonnet dryer for roller setting purposes. I have bought a bonnet dryer, but it conked out on me before I got to use it. I bought it on Ebay :( I bought my HOT cap on Ebay as well :)

I have a gold n hot heat cap that does absolutely nothing....the thing don't even get hot smh wasted money

I have and love both!

For me, heat cap is best for DCing and bonnet is best for setting/drying.

I hope to get more use out of both of them this year :)

I'm loving my hot head heat cap. I do plastic cap, hot heat, plastic bag and it traps in all the heat and steam.

I have a Pibbs which is the best for drying my hair and works great for dc's as well but I prefer the heat cap because it's more convenient.

My heating cap just barely works I have had it for years. I have been using my hood dryer which is fine, but I really prefer the heating cap. I am going to order one today.

Which one are you going to order?

Hey there @faithVA I looked at the HOT head cap mentioned within this thread, but I am not too keen about the concept of microwaving the gel packs. Plus, I have used the plug in heating cap for over 20 years. I think I am going to stick with what I know and order the Thermal Heat cap on Amazon. It a plug in heating cap for about $28. I tried the Gold Hot heating cap couple of years ago and took it back the same day. I hope I have better luck with this one.

The hot head has pockets filled with flaxseeds not gel, you microwave the whole cap. It stays hot for about 30 min.

I have - gold n hot heat cap, hot head, heat therapy wrap (2 of them, old and new style), steamer and Pibbs. :look:

Heat cap when I want steady heat and don't mind being stationary -- used when feeling to lazy to steam which is rare.
Hot head when I need to be mobile.
Heat therapy rarely: gel packs annoy me.
Steamer always...great moisture.
Pibbs - roller setting.

I like the heat cap over the bonnet dryer for deep conditioning. For some reason my hair doesn't feel as conditioned when I sit under the dryer.
