Headbands

Anyone else realize that headbands make your head hurt? I have tried several types and all of them give me a headache. Any suggestions besides the obvious (not wearing one)?

i have the same problem too - so bad sometimes that i get terrible headaches. it's because i have a big head . generally speaking, i found that using cloth headbands hurt my head less. find ones with weak elastic in them. you can also try some that don't go back to their original shape -- i have found that some of the "bra strap" headbands mold more easily to the shape of your head. also, you can make your own cloth headband with some elastic and some cloth. this way, it's custom to your head. if all else fails, i usually go with a pretty ribbon or scarf and bow it up in the back. HTH!!

Wow, I have never experienced this. Are you referring to the stretch kind that you have no control over how tight it is? I always use the kind I can tie in the back. I also prefer ones made of a soft and cool fabric.

Ouch, yes.

I find alice bands (the solid bands you put behind your ears) are the worst.
I find stretchy ones ok though.
I also have a scarf type one I haven't tried yet.

yes, my hair hates anything on it PERIOD! I love headbands, but my head says, NOOOOOOOO! Also, I think they are a little stressful for my hairline.

I have the same problem, Bre. I either don't wear them at all, or just wear them until my head starts to hurt. The best solution for me is to use a cloth band or scarf that I tie myself, allowing the ends to flow down my back or over one shoulder.

I bought these ouchless headbands from tenderheaded.com they also sell them at walmart. They do not hurt at all....they kinda look like big thin pony tail holders.

All depends on which type I use. I used to wear these plastic ones all the time but they would make my head hurt right behind my ears... UGH! But they were dso cute! The cloth ones seem to slide off all the time. So now I just wear them when Im out in public, once I hit home they come off. I can only stand them for a few hours at a time.

Well I mostly wear scarves because I like them better and they don't hurt. Headbands always give me a headache and the ones that don't hurt are usually broken within a day or so because they can't handle my thick hair! I have one I love though, it's black metal with rhinestones, but like Balisi said, I'll wear that bad boy until it starts to hurt.:look:

The plastic bands used to really hurt so for a while i used the kind that you wrap and tie in the back. Be careful with these, they weren't good for the back of my hair since I would tie it and sometimes catch some of my hair and the knot would keep rubbing at the back.

I have the same problem. I've gotten a headache so bad one day, that at work I had to take it off. Every now and then I still get tempted to wear one, but it usually ends up coming off before I walk out the door  .

Speaking of which where do you get your headbands? The headbands I want are so expensive ($45-$90 each) but I'm thinking that's way too much to be paying.

Any ideas where I can get cute headbands for less on or offline?
