So...I was going to post pictures for you guys of my length check because my natural hair anniversary is the 9th. well, it seems as though that won't be happening. the ends of my hair were bushy and dry and i find that that's from not doing the chase method, which i promised myself i'll do later. later is not coming. i cowashed, just now. and there are straight pieces all over my head.

Mind you? My hair had swing. It had all that. Shiny. Ultra moisturized, because I deep conditioned and everything. Great looking except for the ends! And then it goes ahead and does me dirty. I don't know if I heat trained it or if I should deep condition, but I refuse to believe this is heat damage. I don't believe it.

Help. Me.

Do a heavy protein treatment and if you have some flat beer laying around do a beer rinse

Co washing is not going to give you enough moisture to restore your hair back into full reversion. It never does for me, shampoo and do a deep condition, that probably is all you need.

a friend suggested i deep condition as well. i'll run to target and grab shea moisture's deep conditioning masque!

Here are some pictures of what's going on. The hair is straight then curly on the ends as you can see and in top of that the other parts of my hair has been taken from 4a to 3something or other. I rinsed out my dove conditioner to find that the straight pieces were going from type 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 etc. I slathered a coconut milk olive oil mix on my hair and its been in for an hour and a half. Going to take it out in maybe two or three hours then do a protein treatment if necessary.

Given your natural texture, your hair looks to be heat damaged in some parts. A protein treatment may not help, but it's worth a try.

Rikinkkulus: Sorry about your damage. It'll be okay. :) It will grow out and you can trim as it grows. For now, doing twistouts can help blend the texture with the rest of your hair. In the future, don't let the flat iron go above 370 degrees; and don't let it sit on the hair for more than a few seconds.

how is heat damage possible after flat ironing only once? i don't understand. i deep conditioned, i flat ironed but my iron was on the lowest setting (about 240 degrees) and i passed over only once. could this have to do with the porosity of my hair, my genetics, etc?

chi silk infusion but i guess i didn't use enough. should've used my pantene too.

How did you put it in tho? Did you section your hair and rake it through (wash n go style) or did you just rub it in your head?

And then again....give your hair some more time to revert. Do a mild protein treatment...but i remember the very first time i flat ironed on low heat...i thought i had heat damage...when all it needed was a protein boost and some time:yep: After that i only had to snip off like 3 curls bc the rest of my hair reverted just fine.

Try an Aphogee treatment and DC.

So you only flatironed once and this happened? Wow
It might just be that your hair doesn't like to be flatironed. I'm not sure if it's texture. It might just be hit or miss with us Naturals. Sorry this happened to you.

I'm so sorry this happened and am shocked that it happened after one flat iron on low setting and using Chi. :nono: I have no suggestions but GOTTA say, your siggy pic is ca-raaazy!

SmilingElephant I feel stupid. I put my head in four sections and rubbed in generously there but I don't put it in that way, because it makes my hair sticky. Now I feel like that's reaaaally what I should've done...

BostonMaria Gonna try that but now I'm gonna give my hair a break I've been washing and conditioning the passed two days. I'll do a treatment with avocado on Thursday or whenever I get my hair done.

NJoy This is the second time it's happened after one use. I'm not sure who to blame, and I swear my siggy is more famous than I am!
