As long as they don't handle chemical, I think it's OK to be there without a license (at least in the state of Florida). Shampoo girls definitely don't need it.

I just looked it up. I checked 2 hair dressers. The certificates say "inactive" and "pending."

They are supposed to be in plain view in the salon, but if they are "apprentices" under another licensed stylist, they should have a document stating that. Again, visible in plain view in the salon...

I would be suspect of a stylist who didn't have her license in plain view. They would not get my money.

This is almost always the case (except they aren't always all good). And yes. Most licensed stylists will have it displayed. Those who aren't, won't That's kind of how you know. In most states it's mandatory that it be visibly displayed in the salon.

I have mine on the wall by my station. In my salon that I am opening, it will be on the wall with all the other frams I have to have by state law.

more than likely it is updated. if you see pending, they might be in the renewal process. inactive means they haven't renewed.
