Yeah, the atmosphere looks great but, the styles are just "okay". The short and medium styles don't look professional at all. I like for my hair to look and feel silky and shiny when I leave the salon. The long styles are okay.

i can't speak for anyone else, but as a person with long hair who frequents dominican salons, i don't go there for a 'style' per se. i go because they know how to handle my hair (length and texture) and it feels great when i leave. from my experience it doesn't seem that dominican women wear elaborate styles which would explain why the beauticians don't really do them.

wouldn't it be great if there was a salon that used dominican products and techniques AND styled like a black salon?

I go to Reaction sometimes. To be honest, it is just like any other Dominican Salon with a nicer atmosphere . Not worth the extra dollars that I spend when I go there, hence the reason I don't go that often! BTW, I NEVER get my roots blown so as long as the person can do a good set I am happy .

I agree 100% with that comment.I have been to african american salons and my hair never came out as good as it does at a dominican salon.Yes the black salons have styled my hair better..but my hair would look to greasy or curled to hard.Dominican salons know how to handle the length and texture of my hair no problem leaving my hair looking beautiful and healthy with minimal product(no grease!!yuck).

I should have been more specific. I like the look of the simple long hair styles. Also the hair seems to maintain the thickness to the ends on the long hair. Since there has been so much talk about Dominican products on this site, and Dominican Salons, I thought it would be nice to see what the Dominican ladies hair is looking like. I agree that the LHCF ladies are on target and obviously we have something to talk about. Just nice to see a gallery of Dominicans in order to make a comparison. Oh yeah, LHCF ladies we have got it going on. I think deep down, from the comments I have seen on the net, I wondered if they had some special secret...that little something extra when it came to hair care. I wouldn't mind trying some of that Silicon Mix if I can find it in Canada. Probably have to get it from Montreal, Quebec. Bonjour.

They charge like $23 dollars for a wash-n-sets. I bring my own conditioner and go under the dryer so it comes up to about $27 (i think). There are sooo may other dominican salon in NY that I can go to and pay less than $20 for my wash-n-sets.

I never get anything else done at a domincan salon b/c I feel that they move too slow when relaxing and they bring the relaxer up too far on the hair shaft. Just my observation. I only let Marica from Lavarhairdesigns do my relaxers . She is the ONLY person I trust 100% with chemicals and trims.

Okay now, I know the styles that they have posted are not that great but they've had this lay out up for a longgggggggg time now. But they are great. This is the only Dominican Salon I go to, because they really know how to handle my hair. My texture and everything, I even let them trim my hair and they do a pretty good job. My aunt and my cousin go there and my their hair is long and beautiful.

But trust me they are pretty decent and whatever you ask for they give it to you.

$15 including tip??? That is a great deal!! There was this one Haitian spot that would charge $10 for a wash-n-set, $13 to go under the dryer with your own conditioner. Problem was that way too many amateurs worked there.
