i love sanaa lathan's hair...you know the lady from disappearing acts and love and basketball. there a couple of scenes in love and basketball when she has the front of her hair in flattwist and the back in curls which appear to be natural. well i tend to do my hair the same way and when i do i call it "The Sanaa" (my boyfriend laughs at me for calling it that). natural looking spiral curls can be acheieved by moisturizing the hair with a hair lotion (i use breakthru..in the orange bottle..by soft sheen and carson...)you can part the hair in nine sections, each section gets their own dab of moisturizer, and then braid it really tight. to get the ends to spiral i wrap each one of them around a barette (like the ones you wore when you were five). leave it this way for at least 5 hours (i tend to do it before i go to bed so that i can wear the style the next day.) the style lasts me for about two or three days when i wear it down and two more days after that if i put the curly hair into a ponytail which also looks really nice. that is how i do it and trust me it works. oh yeah make sure that your hair is semi straight (i wait for a couple of days after i wash my hair before i do this style). i said it once and i will say it again the product Breakthru is wonderful

. i have been using it for about two months and i love it..it really does moisturize the hair well and prevents against breakage. i get it from a hair supply store and it is 6.99 before tax.

I used to do the "Aaliyah" when my hair was longer. You know, the traditional straight down with a slight bend at the end, deep part to one side swooped over.

You like breakthru lotion? I'm glad it works for someone. I was convinced that it couldn't work for anyone after it wouldn't soak in, then proceeded to make my hair dry and brittle

I gave it to a friend but I can't rememebr if it worked for her.

I got the same exact haircut as Lark Voorhies, (my old avatar pic). Now I am following Marissa Whitley's hair styles, (my new avatar pic). At this point, I only use celebs as style references.

I do it all the time. Now, I'm kinda copying Mona from Half and Half, although my weave doesn't have half as much volume as hers.

i was the worse brandy copy cat in middle school!!! except i was a couple of years behind her because my mom said her current styles were to old for me. then last year i had the kelly rowland flip minus the color. it was bangin'!!!!

I copied the infamous Nia Long April 2000 Essence magazine cover. It's the same as the one that was on the Dark and Lovely box. It's also now the Halle Berry cut. That was 3 years ago.

OOOOH , What color is it, what brand of hair and how long is it ??? !!! I was just thinking ot myself it is time to get some fake hair

Seriously I am tired of dealing with my hair and weaves are my protective styling.

I used to mimic Janet Jackson's hair back in the early 90's. She wore her hair color Jet Black and there was a side part with bangs spritzed high and curled over. My hair looked just like the picture below, except my length only reached the top of my shoulders.

Oh... GRRRrrl!! I can't even remember all the attempts or who was the template for the design-o-the-day!
I just know I had many hours of frustration because I just couldn't get the same effect by myself at home as a celeb and an army of stylists and photogs and lighting could do!!
Then I figured out, to just make my OWN style and let THEM try to copy ME!

Re: have you ever tried to micmick a celebs hairst

No, I have not attempted to mimic the hair of a celeb., for the simple reason that celebs. have access to the best stylists and products in the world.

I like to keep the hair care process as simple as possible.

Since Im told I look like LisaRay a lot, I tried to mimic that hairstyle from Playa's Club the one where it's up in a ponytail out in the back and 2 pieces of hair whisping out on the sides (lol, if that's how one would put it)It was nothing spectacular to copy but I thought it was cute and simple to do.
