I found these pics of this style...I've never knew they were called this but I have seen this style before. A friend of mines had it done but her's didn't last that long, nor did the style fit the frame of her face.

I have had them, they are the base of kinky twists. It is best to get them with "lin" if you want a mat look, synthetic hair makes them shiny. But they are originally done with lin. They came out in NY about twelve years back.
Dont get them done on short hair, they will slip out.
If your hair is natural, it will show through the "lin" which is actually wool, and is bought by the pound.
