Before anyone stones me, I did do a thread search before posting, but I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. I want to get Senegalese twists, but the majority of my hair is lightly texlaxed (very textured still) and I have about 3-4 inches of new growth. Whenever I get braids of twists I keep them very well moisturized to prevent breakage, but will this cause Senegalese twists to puff and/or unravel? I'd like the style to last a while, but I'm wondering if it would better just to get individual/single braids that would be more durable.

I did a search and there are many threads with people asking for tips on doing Senegalese Twists on natural hair. I didn't see any that gave the impression it isn't possible. I also someone who did hers on transitioning hair.

This is the transitioner: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/ha...aturals-who-wear-braids-senegalese-twist.html

I think Val might be natural. Anyway she gives a link to a tutorial with a natural haired lady giving direction on how to start Senegalese twists with a braid: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/ha...iscussion/489150-d-i-y-senegalese-twists.html

This OP had been transitioning and didn't BC until 4 months later: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/ha...-like-my-senegalese-twists-pics-included.html

I always got them 1x a year faithfully, and never had any problems. I wasn't trying to wash my hair either :look:

I just took good care of my scalp and used a dry shampoo by ORS 1x and I was good to go...

I have had senegalese twist a couple times since i have been natural. There is a picture in the banner on my blog. I am too lazy to post the pic lol. You have to bee very careful with them tho because if exposed to water your hair will puff out of the twist. I only kept mine for a month but I think they could have lasted longer.

I wore them twice for 3 months each while transitioning. I moisturized them daily with ORS olive oil lotion and washed/DCed once a week/every other week, and they looked fine. Once the new growth really came in (a little after 2 months) they did look fuzzy, but only at the root. I gelled it down in the front and KIM.
I got them well into my transition, btw, so I had a lot of natural new growth and they still looked fine.
