Hey all,

I recently did my first set of successful flat twists! I am so proud of myself, they may not be as neat as when I get my mom to do them but I would still rock them in public with no shame! :lachen:
I saw a youtube video by a hairstylist with natural hair that wanted to share her secrets but I can't remember who it was! (does anyone know? it was a recent post). Anyways after seeing that it was the first time I was able to do the damn thing!
Have you recently conquered any styles that you haven't been able to do before?

Since I know how u love pics here are my flat twists. Back is up in a pony since the ends were starting to unravel...

Congrats!!! Lookin good.

I haven't conqured a damn thing recently.
But I'm loving this thread and can't wait to see the responses.

Yes. I'm transitioning (since Mar.08) and my usual style has been a semi pony/bun (because i always wrap the end up smhow) and fairly quickly my edges started to lay down VERY well. Then a short time later i realized that my edges where forming curls instead of the kinky napps i would see when it was time for a touch-up.

I soon read smwhere here that some1 got their edges to grow back and stay strong by focusing moisture & protein in the area daily (mainly moisture) so i tried it(since my edges had been breaking/growing "cycle" for a couple years at this point). That made a MAJOR difference everyday since.

Well i recently started thinking about the course area in the middle/back of my hair, started 2-3 nights ago applying the same method by sectioning off into 4 sections (PROBABLY SOUNDING REAL FAMILIAR TO A LOT OF YOU LADIES..huh?) i apply moisture/ seal ponytail each section twist the ponies to the end clip them all up and put on durags.

ALL OF MY HAIR IS STARTING TO MAINTAIN THE SAME LEVEL OF MOISTURE! Yay!!!Thank you ladies of LHCF!HHG!

Congrats! I am horrible at styling.

I finally conquered damaged hair. I had a hairtastrophe at a salon last November. My hair broke off really bad. I went from APL to barely being able to wear a decent ponytail.

This past weekend I went to do a search and destroy trim for damaged hair and split ends and I couldn't find any. It's all gone. I have nothing but healthy hair left on my head. I may even make it back to APL this December.

Yes. I finally achieved to get cowashing to work for me. I found that it only works for me 6 weeks post.

Nice flat twists, one day I will try that again, my previous efforts have been fruitless!

I don't wanna speak to soon, but I think I may have banished my scalp issues. I've had problems with a flaky scalp for ages, but I clarified and had regular (2x per week) conditioner washes and so far my scalp is looking so much better, almost flake-free :)

Cornrows. FOR YEARS i haven't been able to cornrow my own hair--regardless of length. I could plait and braid with the best. Now that I am natural i can FINALLY cornrow my hair and it is so liberating. Now the rows are ugly...but with practice they will get better and I didn't have the talent before going natural.

I have sucessfully been able to put my hair in a ponytail and bun. I have not been able to do that in a couple of years. This is a big accomplishment for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!:grin::grin:

Pics of my most recent attempt at flat twists....getting better!

I did my 1st set of long small kinky twists individuals!! Normally, my twists extensions are small to medium length and thick in size. Go me!

Well not on my own head right now. I am doing Dreadlock extensions on my Aunts hair and I am finally almost done. I'm taking her from a little past shoulder length to almost bra strap length. I am truly amazing myself, I will post the pics when I am done. I can only work on it about 2-3 hours a day because of work schedules but it should be done tommorrow or maybe today.

I put my big girl panties on and conquered my fear of trimming (losing length) a few weeks ago.... and my hair looks a lot better

Starting to seal my ends...I'm still too self concious about my hair to wear it to work but my ends needs are now getting what they need

Last night I put my own hair in cornrows so that I could wear it underneath my half-wigs for the winter.

 Another style to rock as a transitioner  I don't use heat, I don't wear weaves, wigs or extensions... so I need to creative with my styles.

Braidout Puff :Yay:

It probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some but it means a lot to me that I can achieve a really cute updo at 10 months post without heat.
