Hi ladies, I get my hair washed and conditioned every week, but before I wash and condition I use that Proven Oil Blend regime the night before. Well when I wash my hair out in the morning, my hair is very oily so I apply a clarifying shampoo ie: Tea Trea Shampoo, Garlic shampoo,,,,etc anything that says clarifying. I heard on this board as well as others that using clarifying shampoos excessively is hard on the hair. Is there something else I can use to get the oil out because Creme of Nature does not do the job?...

Someone on the board recommends adding lemon juice to your current shampoo to get the clarifying effect. You might want to give that a try.

Candycane

Try adding baking soda to your conditioner. Someone else mentioned adding it to their shampo but I haven't tried that. HTH

If you still wanted to use a clarifying shampoo, you would do your first wash with it, the second wash w/ a cheapo conditioner (like a conditioner-only wash), and then condition as normal with a good moisturizing one. That way you are getting the oil out w/o compromising softness.

I have found that Joico Resolve clarifies well without being too harsh...

wanda, how is your hair responding to the clarifying shampoo that you're using. they're not all created equal. i would say that if your hair feels rough afterwards, use a moisturizing shampoo afterwards then condition. you could also try a more gentle clarifying shampoo. i've been using Elasta QP Bodifying shampoo. i don't even know if it's technically considered one, but it's excellent at removing buildup and leaves my hair super soft.
