Have a question about products for relaxed hair??? Come on in!!

Anybody try the macadamia nut products. They are packaged in green and brown labels. There's a repairing mask, a thick oil for HOTs, a spray oil for regular use and I think a leave in.

I've purchased a lot of new products this week. Last night I washed my hair and I used:

Joico K-Pak clarify/chelating shampoo
Joico Body Luxe thickening shampoo
Joico Moisture Recovery conditioner
Macadamia Natura Oil Deep Repair Masque-absolute all time fave DC:lick::lick:
AG Moisture and Shine conditioning mist detangling spray

My hair is so soft and bouncy after air drying. I'm going back to Ulta today to get the Joico Body Luxe conditioner and the Joico Moisture Recovery shampoo. I plan to alternate between the two lines every other month.

Are there any long term Joico users out there? My stylist uses the Moisture Recovery line. My hair always looks great. I decided to get some products for home use. I picked up the Body Luxe line b/c I have fine hair that I'd like to thicken up. Anyone had success with long term use of either line?

Yes, yes, yes! Love the Deep Repair Masque! This conditioner is so creamy and thick. You don't need much. It smells wonderful and your hair will be so soft. It's expensive, but worth it! I've tried the Rejuvenating Shampoo, the Moisturizing Rinse, the Nourishing Leave-In treatment, and the Macadamia Healing Oil spray. I purchased trial sizes of everything from Ulta. It's a great line of products, but the only thing I fell in love with is the Deep Repair Masque.

@Raspberry, I have a Qhem sample and I'm trying to figure how best to use it. @january noir uses Qhemet's detangling product and liked it a lot last time we chatted. January, do you still use the detangling ghee with great success? How do you use it?

divachyk It's probably good this is a mystery for me because I know good and well I don't need to buy anything else right now . I"m loving the Chi Ionic Color leave-in treatment masque for detangling my hair post-wash. It's chock full of cones and they do their thing but I'm curious to know whether a natural alternative could work just as well so I can co-wash once in a while.

I have a question: When I get more than a few weeks post-relaxer, I keep my edges from breaking by spraying them with water and then putting Carol's Daughter Marguerite's Magic on top of that, as a sort of sealant. It works perfectly, but... CD products are a little out of my college-budget. Does anyone know of any other similar pomade/butter/cream type of product that I could use? I've tried using oils but I can only use them as a pre-poo because when I don't rinse out the oil, it makes me break out.

NaiyaAi Basically water + most creamy leave-ins or pomades will give you good moisture around your edges. Try anything creamy that says it's moisturizing - check the label to make sure it doesn't contain protein. And even some good 'ol grease and water may do the trick (as long as the grease is a high quality light one). Check Sally's or Target for leave-ins. I like Silk Elements MegaSilk but there's a ton of quality leave-ins at Sally's. I'm sure others can tell you their faves.

Are we liking Joico line? Also do we like Kenra? I ask bc I found a salon near me that carries the Kenra line and I want to invest and get some of the Joico full size bottles. I hope Ulta does a nice sell for June.

My only question is how to preserve my hair when I blow dry. Since my hair is under processed soon as any moisture hits my hair it puffs up. My bun Monday was nice and sleek but by Tuesday it was a bit puffy so I did a low bun the remaining of the week.

I was in JC Penneys tonight and I was eyeing the k-pak foaming leave in. I had tried and loved the Joico products in the past, but I wasn't sure what kind of hold it would give me for a rollerset, so I bought keracare foam instead.

xu93texas - I'm a long term user of Joico Moisture Recovery and Kpak line. MR: shampoo/conditinoer. Kpak: shampoo/conditioner/reconstructor. I have a few more Joico items that I've yet to use.

NaiyaAi - why do your edges break a few weeks post? Sounds like they are either lacking moisture or experiencing strain from your hair styles. I moisturize/seal my edges just like I do the rest of my head. I slick my edges down with Bee Mine curly butter or HV whipped gelly. Before LHCF, I used plain ole water and that worked too. You just need to place a scarf on your head after you apply the water so the edges can lay down. I scarf from the time I do my hair until I get ready to get out of my car to walk into work. Btw, I apply my slicking products to my edges with a soft bristle toothbrush used for hair only.

Yes GoddessMaker, Joico and Kenra are great. Since you're underprocessed this might not hold true but I read hair that frizzes and puffs is a sign the hair is not properly moisturized. It frizzes and puffs because it is trying to draw moisture out of the air. Supposedly, when hair is properly moisturized, it won't be impacted by outside temps. I can't remember where I read this but this is what I read. Assuming this theory is right, you need to up your moisture game. Note, this theory may not be accurate though.

Anybody looking for a good and cheap clarifying shampoo, I highly recommend Suave:

It usually goes on sale for $0.99 and it removes all product from my hair like a charm! Be sure to follow it with a moisture shampoo and dc. :yep:

Just a comment: I swear by ORS Replenishing as a DC. I've deviated several times with whatever DC was popular on the board at the time but NOTHING works for me like ORS.

I like ORS as well. I have a handful of Deep Conditioners that work well for me.

Alter Ego
ORS
Proclaim Hydrating Masque
ELASTA DPR-11
WEn Replenishing Intensive Treatment

I continue to use these over and over with great results.

I have yet to find a DC better than ORS replenishing either. I went towards the SE hype, tried it and a number of others, but still love ORS. plus it's cheap :) only downside is that it smells too strongly of oranges

KeraCare foam wrap set lotion is good. I sold mine b/c I don't have the patience to rollerset.

No one has used ORS wrap mousse??

I think I used this long ago before I ever knew what I was doing with my hair so I can't begin to give you a useful review. I stopped using mousse of any sort because I hated they way they left my hair tangled and hard. Now I set with heavily diluted Lottabody or nothing at all (besides my leave-in). Works for me.

I have used Knot Today. I absolutely love it as a detangler, especially as I get further in my stretch.:yep:

I just purchased a bottle of this. I was wondering how you relaxed ladies (shasha8685 :spinning:) are using Kinky Curly Knot Today?? Can it be used as a daily moisturizer too? Or is the primary function for detangling? And how do you get it to your NG...its so thick??

Questions....Questions....??:drunk:

Anybody else use ORS Carrot Oil??? I use it daily and my hair loves it!

I love ORS carrot oil. I even baggy with twists at night. I cant use it daily due to the protein, but its one of the lightest creamiest oils I've enjoyed, and my hair loves it!!:lick: A great plus for me is that its all natural, no mineral oils or waxes or petroleum...Truly a great product.

baddison I use it as a detangler since my hair doesn't stay moisturized for too long if I use it primarily as a moisturizer. When I use it, I use it on damp hair and I have to section my hair and apply the Kinky Curly Knot Today directly to it ( I have a lot of hair in general and w/ new growth...it's a jungle).

Has anyone else tried this yet? I have the growth oil for HOTs and the growth lotion for obvious reasons.

It works great for me it has the only moisturizer that kept my hair soft and NONGREASY for days I only applied it once.

Did my first HOT yesterday and my hair was soft and NONGREASY in the morning.

Edit: Also I don't know when my next relaxer is because these products has my hair so manageable

@*~SCKRI23~* I love that line! They smell sooooo good on top of it! I have the three growth layer and the strength creme. Smells just like a vanilla desert. Everyone at work loved the scent of my hair.

sckri23 i ve tried the hair lotion and cream ,i prefer the second one ,the ingredients are great .The lotion smells a little bit of urine IMO.

@sunnieb, SE megasilk (not the olive kind) made my hair dry.

@poochie167, I have used KCKT but it makes my hair have zero slip so I don't use it. @shasha8685, how do you use yours as a detangler - wet/dry/spritz/etc?

 divachyk
I do still use it. I use it to smooth out my edges and add moisture to my hair when I use the Ecostyler. I apply it to roots and length of my hair when dry detanglng. I haven't used it on damp hair though. I love that stuff.
