Me same thing my family and my friends. They went from calling me obsessed cause all i talked about was hair back then it was creepy. They saw me transition for a year and big chop and were so in shock. When i went bald in june 05 and said i will grow my hair long in 2 years, everybody laugh and took money bets hahahaha they bet 1000dol i could not grow my hair long lets say they set the date to 2-3years (i set it to 2 lol).

They said the only reason we set a date is because we dont want you to come at 85years old and say yeahhhhhhhhh i grew my hair to waistlength:lachen:   they got jokes. So at first i was called the obsessed, Ekay gone crazy blablabla so i withdrew:mad: and kept everything to myself, and hid my hair forever. my sister said we are blacks and not mixed our hair is not programmed to be long. You not white or mixed ekay u dark skinned black you can t have long hair!!!!!!!! my domenican friends when they saw my big chop as well, my braiders, everybody whyyyyyyyy you cut your relaxed hair now it wont grow and they all laugh. so they see me after 2 months, after 4, after 6. i think after the 4th month everybody changed and started to ask for advice like how come your hair is different how come it was nappy at the beginning like 4bbb and now it s kinda 4a, so i introduced everybody to vitamins, healthy diet but nobody wants to follow the cowashes they think the hair is still dirty.

i think people only believe you when they see results with their own eyes. But all my family and friends know i m the person to talk to for hair, vitamins, regimen and now call me for advice. I notice though that i dont talk hair no more with my friends and family at all so everybody think i got secrets, i just change the subjects and never say exactly what i take but i do answer them when they ask me what vitamin to take for stress or loss of hair or thinning or length:p ;) i think i just grew tired of defending and justifying myself for my own head of hair so i just follow my routine and keep my mouth shut

yes, i've inspired my sister to take her weave out and take care of her hair, she's finally growing it back after 12 years

When I first started, my mother was like "why bother? You've never had long hair. I've never had long hair. So what makes you think you can grow your hair any longer than it's ever been?" I tried to explain to her that, if I was getting a relaxer every six weeks, that I should be getting longer hair every six weeks. If my hair wouldn't grow, I shouldn't ever need a relaxer. WHATEVER She wasn't hearing it. Fine. Fast-forward a year later. My mother and I are in the BSS. I was wig shopping and she was getting a relaxer. She started asking me about different products and for suggestions. I suggested the Bantu in regular because mom has that "cantcha-doncha" hair and suggested that she wait a couple of more weeks before relaxing because her new growth wasn't yet as wide as my pinky finger. Anyway, now my mother's hair is longer than it's been in a long time (touching the tops of her shoulders). Also, I've been converting people from trimming every six weeks. All I say is "look at your ends for yourself. Don't just get a "trim" because the hairdresser said you need to get one every time you get a relaxer. Make up your own mind". And convinced many that vitamins and better water intake helps to achieve healthy hair.

More and more naysayers started asking for advice.

No, I haven't inspired anyone; everyone says my hair grows because it's 3b/c. To be more specific, they call it 'mixed' hair. :(

Yes, I have inspired one of my friends both of us never had hair longer than "short " shoulder lenght and now my hair is were it has not been before: between Armpit & BS lenght. Now she is on her own hair journey and she's like me...obsess with hair care but we did not talk to it to our other friends til they'll see our hair on our back:lol: !!!!

Yes I have inspired a few pple, mainly family and a few of my friends would rather me help them concentrate on helping them nurse their childrens hair back to health and beyond. Since I'm always in Hijab noone hardly sees my hair unless I get comfy like I did the other day at my aunts and eveyone just ooooed and aaaah at my hair, saying how long it's gotten and how shiney it is. Even though I've been doing their hair for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeears, only my young cousin comes regulary like clock work and she's BSL w/deep layers (I just gave her the other day). Her sister likes to come only for special occassions and will curl her hair every morning  ,along w/her mother even though she knows and watched her hair repeat a vicious cycle over and over again. So wednesday she finally agreed to let her trifflin' ends go and I cut it down to 3-4 in. and gave her a routine and a few tips on natural hair styles. I think she be calling me more often now.

So far, I seem to inspire ladies to get weaves. Family members I haven't seen in while and women I meet run out and get full weaves to "match" my hair length when I see them again a few days later. It's happened many times, especially the last couple of years.

My mom, aunts, and cousins all ask about my hair and what I am doing to make it grow. Only my mom has followed through on my suggestions. My friends ask, but they think that is it too much to keep up with. Oh well!

Yeah some chick at my job. I wish she would stop asking me if I am sure my hair is not a weave. Duh it's my hair. I have no reason to lie if it was a weave.

After about 2 months I have a lot of the ladies at my job asking me about hair care tips. They see me everyday come from my lunch break with a bag of hair products and have started asking me what this product does and what that product does. Everyone at first thougth it was rediculous when I told them I took hair vitamins and put coconut milk and lime juice in my hair. But after a while they started to notice that my hair was straighter and thicker and started asking me about the measurements of the lime/coconut mix. Then they asked me how I got my hair so shiney and I told them I make my own oil....a couple of days later 4 people asked me if they could have some of my oil mix. After they tried it and the lime coco mix everyone has been asking me what products they should use and different questions about thickening up their hair and growing it longer. I dont even wear my hair down (I wear it in a phony pony daily) but it seems like everyone notices that the top of my hair is not thinning anymore and that its really soft and shiny. I even put a couple of people on to LHCF...so when their hair gets to BSL they know who to thank:lol:

So far, only my mom. She's seen my hair care regimens over the years and only in the past year has she seen real 'progress'. She still insists on relaxing her hair every 5 weeks, which it doesn't need and it would be so much better if she stretched to 8 or 10 but she doesn't have the patience for working with the two textures. That and she's so rough with her hair. :cry3: Who knows, maybe in time, when mine gets to be APL where it's NEVER been, she'll listen to the 'Be Gentle and Love Your Hair' side of the LHCF Hair Care Cassette.

Everyone else complains that 'it's too much work', 'that's obsessive', yada yada yada. Whatever, I wear my hair down at work about 1 once every two months and they go into .

I can relate to this ignorance. While I have inspired many around here, (mostly those who KNEW me and KNEW my hair had NEVER been more than 3 or so inches past my shoulders), there are those who say, "yeah well your mother is Hispanic that's why your hair grew like that. It was always in you, you just found out how to bring it out."

This makes me feel sad because it's a constant reminder that most of us have been brainwashed into believing that we dont have what it takes to achieve long hair for what ever reason.

Most definitely. One of my friends, who thought I was looney, is now asking me all about what I'm using, why, where to buy it, where I'm getting all this good info, etc.

Her hair is pretty damaged, and I have been trying to help her out without smothering her with everything I've learned from LHCF, but she would never listen. Finally, she saw that my hair has grown and looks healthier, so now she's asking me to email her all of my "secrets."

Now all I have to get her to do is join... :sekret:

I've inspired my mom and sister because of how thick my hair is and how much my hair has grown since I was practically bald in July.

I inspired my sis too. After seeing my hair grow to new lengths she is asking me about products all the time but unfortunately is not as interested in the techniques :ohwell:
