Have you follow someone else regimen that has helped you or hurt you?

Do/did you take a lil from different people regimen and came up with your own regimen?

Well I incooperated other folks technique and tweaked them I never followed anyones regime but I took bits and pieces etc

I've tried a few regimens of ladies here who have gorgeous and they simply didn't work for me. :(

ETA: I grab bits and pieces here and there.

I have tried a few tips like sealing in moisture w/oils or butters, but other than that, I don't follow anyone's regimen. I go by how my hair feels & reacts from day to day.

I don't even follow my own regimen that much. I'm hair lazy. Some people would say their regimen is simply but then when I look at what they do it be like 20 steps. That's not simple to me lol.

I got my regimen from the ladies with gorgeous natural ladies who keep it simple. Daily cowashes, some type of leave in and seal if necessary.

These women use no heat or use it VERY rarely, no complicated styles, no/or rarely DC, etc.

I've seen hair grow, grow, grow from this simple regimen.

My regimen has developed organically as I have learned more about hair care in general, as well as what my hair specific needs are. At first, I was trying out everything that everyone else was doing and it got to be too much. Now, after 6 months I have learned my hair and I can say that I will be sticking to my regimen until my hair stops responding.

I've tired different regimens but always come back to mine. I'm determined to just stick with what I have.

That's how I feel.

I just follow the general tips of trying to keep an ideal moisture/protein balance, and caring for my ends to retain length, but other than that I don't follow anyone's regimen (I don't think :look: ) I tried some people's techniques of certain things (like rollersetting, braidouts, etc) but I always end up tweaking it so that it works functionally for my lifestyle or else, what's the point? So my hair (and my schedule) dictates what gets done, when and how.

I initially followed the LHCF-er's regimen that got me hooked to the site [she got to brastrap from neck in just over a year] then i deviated incorporating other things i saw on the site, some worked most didn't [the products were on point though], now i have mine which is quite similar to what i started with in the first place- and it works for me:grin:

I've never followed anyone's regimen to the letter. I use tips from lots of people/sources then I mix and match to figure out what works for me.

Its taken me many years of hits and misses to to find out what's good and what isn't and learned a lot along the way.

I follow my own basic regimen. But I will tweak it based on how my hair reacts or out of boredom. But, if my hair just does something completely off the wall or out of the ordinary - I know that someone on the board has probably already experienced it. So I might try one of their remedies/regimens to see if it will help my situation.

this is what i do also.

I got my original regimen from a hair book and then tweaked and added stuff I learned from board and magazines to find what works for me.

I agree with most replys. I got a lot of tips about conditioners mixes and hennas and such, but I could never really follow someone else's regimen cause that really would have to fit my lifestyle. I developed my own, but I learned how to develop a regimen by reading a lot of other peoples. That was extremely helpful.;)

I based my regimen on Cathy Howse's method and it works wonderful for me(Washing and Conditioning every third day and stretching relaxers_. I did enhance those techniques with LHCF product and care advice.

dido: i followed Macherieamour idea to use the keracare line but incorporating other products & the way I use them based on reading Cathy Howse's Book makes it my own reggie

I did and it helped me.

I followed SistaSlick's/Candy_C's reggie and it works. Their reggies are also super simple too. It's when I started getting extra and/or started tweaking things is when my hair suffered a set back.

Now I just pre-poo, wash, dc, and airdry. Just like those two ladies and it worked. Of course my hair doesn't respond to their products but the reggie is pretty much the same.

i used to do that but i decided to take a little from here and there. Now i just stick to my own reggie and I am determined not to change it again.

My regimen mostly came from Carolyn Gray's book. She put me on the right track.

Ditto! My entire regimen came from Carolyn Gray's book and I got the baggy method from DSD.

Off topic: Ttttttttt....look at you lookin alllll type of cute!
There's so much natural beauty on this board...gotta love it..:p

Starting to follow and note the products being used by heads that were more like mine has helped my progress tremendously over the past year...doing that and implementing it with what I was already doing.

I agree. The Beginners Guide was a wonderful foundation. I pm'd many lhcf hair inspirations. Ive had to do trial and error along with adjustments too. The detangling issue was hands down my hardest hardest hardest issue to face when I joined. I tried many methods/suggestions including detangling in the shower from ends to root, but the comb didn't "slide" through easily especially weeks after a perm :( . Then one day (on my own and accidently) I discovered that my leave-in product [MNT creme] plus wetness equals easy breezy detangling each and every time :D!
