Has the Hi-top fade come back?

I have noticed that the 80's fad is back ESPECIALLY among HS students. My sister (16) is in love with different colored acid wash jeans, oversized, off the shoulder tops/hoodies and large bows... I dont really care if high schoolers are doing it, I just hope thats where it stays - at high school. I can't imagine some grown @$$ man walking around with a high top fade looking like marge simpson.

yeah, i think it's on the come up. started seeing one here and there about a year ago. this hs kid at my church sports his proudly.

Let me just say....you know how the lil kids today are in love with Dora the Explorer and all that?

Well....that's how i was with Gumby.....to this very day....i looooove me some Gumby ya'll don't know!!! Hardest dude ever!!!

Okay sorry to hijack right quick....but who remembers as a little kid in the early 90's getting beads put in your hair and then they put aluminum foil on the ends??? Ppl IRL be ackin like they don't remember this.

havent seen that here, been seeing fingerwaves & pineapple curls tho
wow oh well what's old is new again
*digs out my Cross Colors jacket*

Some of my students wear them. I'm not crazy about them nor am I crazy about other eighties fashions like tapered ahem I mean skinny jeans.

everything comes back. its been the 80's real heavy the past few years, now its seems we're moving on to the 90's.

i wish we could bring back the 50's so i could dress all femme without people askin crazy questions bout "where i'm goin". ♥

I took a couple of pics of this one person at the Bronner Brothers Show in ATL. LOVED the hair!

I was just in Dallas over the weekend seeing my Honey. He told me that the young guys down there were wearing the high top fades with the dyed tips, ducktails/rattails, and even that strip of hair at the nape of the their neck that looks like a reverse bang??? I didn't believe it.... until we went to the mall and yep :yep:!! It was all over the place.

OMG that indeed is The Shag.

:ghost:

I think the fades are awesome, and I think 90s style in general is understandably copied because of the depth of culture in that period. What hairstyles are guys wearing now that we can truly say are unique to this time period? none. I mean, even natural women have been wearing tapered twas. With the overconsumption of all things pop culture nowadays, it's really hard to be "unique," or original. I'm not saying retro is either of those things, but I'd rather be one of eight guys wearing fades in my school, then the twenty five with dreads. *shrug*
My positivity towards the hairstyle may be the fact that I'm eighteen, and way more invested in youth culture.

^^ Haha. I'm 22. And I hated the 90s. I think it's one of the worst decades fashion- and hair-wise. But there were plenty of new things going in with other parts of the the culture then that I love and am nostalgic about, so I'll give you that!
And I can see why people would be doing it to be "unique." I'd just rather be unique in another decade... lol. But it's all a matter of preference :)

~SparklingFlame~ : I blame you for speaking that shag into existence.

^^ Haha. I JUST went back and edited it after I thought about it. I loved the 90s but hated the fashion and hair. I realized I wasn't being fair at first.
I still blame you because you brought it up!

I have several students in my school that have been wearing that style. I feel like I'm back in the 90's when I look at them!
