Made it easier or harder for you to spot a weave?

It's all in good fun, but for me being a member here has made it harder to decipher who is wearing a weave and who isn't. I think that belonging to this community and seeing fabulous heads of hair on this site every day has made me more optimistic about seeing black women with long hair. Now I am not as quick to write someone off as having a weave.

What about you ladies ?

I've seen great weaves on this site that i wouldn't be able to detect as a weave. Now I wonder how many weaves there are out there that I thought was the real deal. So I guess it's harder for me to spot a weave. I think it's their hair and it could just be a weave done right.

No not really.....but it has made it easier to see other black women who dont know about LHCF see the health of their hair compared to mine......It's like I wanna give advice, but I don't want to cross them the wrong way, so I just don't say nothing, I just look......

Well, I guess I never really thought about it much before, and could only tell if it was a bad weave. I didn't even know what half wigs were before LHCF. Now, I spot hair on people that make me wonder weather they're wearing a half wig or a weave, kind of automatically, when I didn't really do it before. I still probably can't tell most good weaves. But actually, I'm more tuned to just about everyone's hair I see. Admiring healthy looking hair all around, which includes nice looking weaves.

I feel the exact same way as you OP.

I was riding in the car with my mom and saw this girl with gorgeous MBL hair. My mother instantly labeled it a weave. Her reasoning "It's too long and shiny"

I said "So black women cant have long shiny hair?"

She shut up.

Weaves don't move like real hair. Even the most expensive human hair weave still moves like a weave. I don't care how flowy it is, there's still a difference.

I could tell before lhcf who was wearing a weave and i can tell now.

^^ I so agree with this...and I used to be an experienced weave wearer who ordered the expensive ish from extensions plus...

Not really...I don't really keep an eye out for that stuff anyway. But it has made me take more notice when I see a beautiful head of hair, an interesting texture or a great color/cut job

I've become more aware of hair health, length, and texture. No difference in me spotting a weave, I have always been able to spot most.

I'm still clueless . Some of those weaves are really good. However, LHCF has made me more optimistic and open to the possibility that it could be their actual hair .

Maybe not so much weaves, but hair I once thought was healthy I can so see is badly damaged!!

Actually, it makes it more difficult! Before I discovered LHCF I have to admit that I thought everyone over SL was wearing some kind of weave or phony ponies. Now that I know that there are many women of color that have long hair, eye give everyone the side eye I try not to stare too long cause I don't want to be rude. On the other hand, I notice more jacked up heads now more than ever! I'm thinking to myself " that lady should cut off those raggedy ends....she needs to wash her hair and moisturise cause her hair looks so thirsty"!

I have gotten better at it. I had no idea weaves, wigs, and various other extensions were so common before I got on here and learned about protective styling. I used to always assume someone's hair was real, but now I'm hip

Naw, I really don't pay that much attention to other people and their hair. Its just so not my thing.
