I read somewhere that if you mix 2 tablespoons of honey with your shampoo, (the honey acts as a natural humectant) your hair will come out shiny and fuller.
I have never used honey with my shampoo but I have used it as a preshampoo treatment along with olive oil. I didn't like it. My hair is fine and it was way too heavy. My hair came out limp but it did have a little more sheen than usual.
I've never used it with my shampoo, but love it mixed with my deep conditioner. Honey is a natural humectant and it is great for adding shine. Good luck
I've been wanting to try honey in my conditioner for a while. Actually I've been trying to throw honey in EVERYTHING.....but anyways.....do you use it in all your conditioners or just certain ones? How much honey do you usually put in it and is it a special kind?
I love it! I mixed two tablespoons of honey with the Creme of Nature shampoo. I mixed them in a bowl to get an even consistency. My hair turned out very shiny and bouncy. It also conditioned my newgrowth very well. I think I will only do this once or twice a month since I don't know if build-up will occur.
I think I'm going to try it with my conditioner next.
Thanks so much for sharing! I will try it soon as well. I use Creme of Nature in the green and white bottle. I also plan on adding honey to my QH cholesterol. I will probably add it to the conditioner this weekend however I haven't been using QH long enough to report a difference in the two...but like I said I love honey in everything.....on my biscuits, on my bread, on my face, in my olive oil, next in my conditioner and shampoo!
I added some honey and some olive oil to my QH cholesterol last week....my hair came out so shiny, I thought my hair was still wet. Even though I put mostly honey in (I changed my mind about adding the oil at the last minute and stopped), I'm not sure if it was the combo or if it was the honey!!!!
Now I'm going to have to get scientific and try each one by themsleves and then in equal parts.
I added honey to my shampoo (Dady Jojoba Shampoo) and I liked it. My hair came out really pretty when I did it. It was shiny, but not sure if it was due to the honey. But, it definitely didn't hurt.
I will probably try it in my conditioner too. I'm already a fan of adding BS Molasses to my conditioners. Blackstrap Molasses gives you EXTREMELY shiny hair...I love it!
What is Blackstrap Molasses? Is it the molasses that's edible? I'll give that a try too.

Yes, the shine came from the honey. Honey is a natural humectant.
Sorry it took so long to reply. I kind of lost track of the thread. I use honey in my deep conditioner mostly. But I use about a tablespoon per application of conditioner. I also spike lesser regular conditioners with honey and EVOO and this helps. I have tried to be very methodical in using up every conditioner that I buy - its the only way to curb my pjism. I like honey because its the only thing that gives my hair a natural looking shine.
Yes, it's the edible molasses. You should be able to find it at the grocery store or health food stores. The bottle should say "BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES". It also usually says "unsulphered" or something like that...not sure what exactly that means.
