....and did you like it?

I saw it at the PX on base and I wanted to try it but had to get some reviews from my LHCF ladies first

Sooooo.....let me know any positive (or negative) reviews you have of any of these products!!

TIA!

A few years ago, I probably spent over 200 dollars on CD stuff. After watching her on a home shopping network and reading about Jada nem using it, I was so convinced it was all I would ever need. I went all out and basically bought everything she had to offer... and it was a complete waste of money.

It was all crap. All of it. Didn't work for anyone in my family and we have all kinds of different hair types.

There are lots of better brands out there anyway. Carol's Daughter took a turn for the worse when Lisa Price decided to go big time. I would never recommend the hair products. Not in a million years. But the body stuff is nice.

I bought a few to support her, but at the end it was just a waste a money.

Whatever you do, Do not buy the mint moss shampoo, just horrible. Tangles for days. I used it four years ago and it still has a bad taste in my mouth.

The only product I liked a few years ago was the Mimosa Honey, but I tired of it after a year- it didn't do much for my hair- it was pretty greasy.

Sent from my iPad using LHCF

I purchased the creme marguerite magic potion or something like that and it was moisturizing and I got some pepper oil and my bf at the time didn't like it because he said it burned his eyes and I didn't see why is was so high priced, all I ended up doing was keeping the wooden comb which eventually dried out and started catching hairs, carols daughter is to high priced not to work!

I tried the shampoo, conditioner, and leave in and my hair was tangled. I can't remember the name of the set though. My friend was trying to get me to buy her hair products and I was like :nono:

If you want to try it out go to sephora and get samples.

And I took everything back and got my 30 dollars back(except for comb) and the man tried to convince me to buy some vanilla spray thingy and said it was good for detangling and moisturizing and I just said no and never again!

I used CD back when it was the "new natural hair line." It was way too oily and heavy for my hair. Total let down. i had a shampoo, a conditioner, and that milky stuff. All were disappointing. I do agree that some of the body products are nice.

The hair milk performs as promised. You do get defined curls, but I found it drying. I mostly liked the fragrances in CD products.

I tried this line when I was first trying to get my hair right.

The Kizzy Stay Put Pomade? Terrible. Nary a thing stayed put.

The Tui Oil? Awful. It just weighed my hair down

The Rosemary Shampoo? Hated it. It didn't lather and didn't make my scalp feel clean.

The hair milk? I hated it. It weighed my hair down something terrible. My friend (who is natural) liked it.

The Healthy Hair Butter? Didn't do anything but sit on my hair and smelled like a woodland clearing

The Black Vanilla Leave In? It was ok. I've found much better leave in's though.

Bottom Line: Save your money and spend it on hair care lines that are actually worth the money.:yep:

I use and love the Black Vanilla shampoo and Smoothie. The shampoo is a great conditioning shampoo and leaves my hair soft, clean, and detangled. The Smoothie is my favorite DC, and my hair is so soft and smooth and moisturized. The Tui shampoo is excellent, also.
The Monoi mask did nothing for me but I love the conditioner.

Everything that I tried sucked, except for my most recent purchase, the chocolat blow dry cream. It's an excellent straightening product.
I wouldn't use her other stuff though.

ive been using her products on and off for years and i like it.
my fave products are the hair milk and hair balm.

i also love her tui and black vanilla shampoo, very moisturizing.
the smoothies are nice too.

the oils are not worth the price to me but im not really an oil person anyway.

the healthy hair butter used to be my fave but then she changed the formula and now its more of a cream than it is a butter and i dont like it as much as i used to.

i actually always have a few cd products on hand.

I've read a lot of good and bad reviews.

I've tried three products (on relaxed hair) - the hair butter and I had the rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner. I didn't care for any of them. I didn't like the smell of the hair butter and the rosemary mint was drying and I didn't feel the invigorating tingle that was advertised.

However, I would try Monoi or the Chocolate Smoothing products...I think I might buy one of the sets. The Macadamia heat-styling products look promising, too.

I've tried the Carol's Daughter Loc Butter which was just ok and the original Hair Milk which I liked but it is a bit heavy. I would probably like the lighter Hair Milk and will try that sooner or later.

The only product I like is the Hair Balm, but its still not worth the money. I used CD products back in the late 90s when she was still small and mail order. Once she hit the big time, the ingredients changed for the worse.

It was my first "natural product" line purchase.

the healthy hair butter? greasy! and didn't help my natural 4b hold a style to save its life.
the mimosa hair honey? also greasy. it's like any other pomade. it does help my dry scalp tho. but eventually it makes it way to the ends and weighs it all down.

i wont be wasting my money on this brand anymore

I bought some about 5 years ago. Of course it was super expensive. I forgot the name of it but it cause my hair to flake horribly! My friend had bought a different one and the same thing happened to her. I gave up on CD after that. Then I saw some Lisa's Hair Elixer at TJ Maxx and bought that. It was okay, I guess, it just had this super strong smell. Knowing what I know now, I'd just buy my own oils and mix them up myself. I wouldn't risk spending any of my money on CD again. It costs too much for it to not work.

I'm relaxed and always got the vibe CD was for naturals. I remember reading some responses from relaxed sistas on Amazon and they all seemed to have horror stories.

I bought the mimosa hair honey for my husband who did not like the smell and I use it sometimes for twists. I don't need a lot and it works fine. I actually like it and will probably repurchase to keep on hand for when my butters run out. It is not the first product that I reach for but I do like it enough to use and repurchase.

I'm an unabashed PJ, but even I won't try any of their stuff - never seen so many bad reviews! Wasting money on the Shea Moisture line or any other cheapies is 'whatever '- but at CD's prices - I don't think so. :nono:

I used the mimosa hair honey, and found that it was much to oily on my hair and made my scalp itch like crazy, so I stay away from this line of products. I've had many natural friends try the line out and they also report that they don't care for the line either. Overall it's too pricey and ineffective in my experience and my experience when asking others about it.

It didn't work for me. That was a lot of money spent to try it out.

I think thats why they don't offer samples.

This line was wonderful way back when the owner was the one making the products and owned her own store (we're talking early 00's). When she brought in big-name investors and started putting the products on the shelves of mainstream stores, the quality of the ingredients went down big time.

^^^I heard the same thing too. I bought her products maybe in 05 and I didn't care for it. I even went to her store in L.A. and bought some pomade to give her products another chance and I still didn't care for it. I'm not going to lie though but two weeks ago I went to Sephora in JC Penny and her deep conditioner looked good :look:.

I am in the minority but I love her hair buttter and her hair balm when doing my braidouts. It gives my braidouts staying power and gives it a great sheen. I have never tried her shampoo or conditioner.

I totally agree with bluehatter. I started using Carol's Daughter waaay before she become mainstream, when her stuff was sold in clear containers with white tops and labels made on a computer. This was probably late 1990's-early 2000's.

Back then I was natural and I liked the Hair Milk, but that was the only product I could use on my hair because all of the other products were too heavy. The ingredients of the Hair Milk at that time were ALL NATURAL and I liked the lemongrass scent. (Now, however, the HM is not all natural and contains unpronounceable ingredients that weren't in the original formulation.)

Once she was on Oprah and partnered with Jada, Mary J., etc., I checked out her stuff again and bought her Rosemary Mint shampoo two or three times. I thought it was good at first, but over time it seemed too drying.

I can't take the scents of most of her products and don't like all the chemical ingredients, so I don't buy Carol's Daughter.
