I found their site not too long ago and I fell in love with the ingredients. I emailed the owner and she gave me some recommendations for my hair but I want to get you ladies opinion first...
I bought some $1 samples, and I won't be buying anything else. The smell of all of my samples were too strong for me, I didn't even want to try it caus ethe smell was overpowering. I think my samples included Honey Hair balm, natural hair cream (slightly tolerable), Sophia grease, guava balm if I remember correctly. I am glad I bought samples, but still that was a couple of bucks wasted IMO.
I've tried the Warm Vanilla soy hair rinse, carribean hair activator, herbal hair cocktail, sophia's hair grease, and i have the aloe vera leave in treatment but haven't used it yet. I loved the way the warm vanilla soy hair rinse made my hair smell and i believe it served its purpose (rinse, hair refresher). I didn't notice anything wonderful about the carribean hair activator. The herbal hair cocktail was nice. When I first put it on in the morning, I didn't think it was anything special. I did notice how wonderfully soft my hair was at the end of my work day so I continued to use it because I believe it benefitted my hair. The sophia's hair grease smells ok but it also wasn't anything special. I bought the sample size and I'm just using it on my edges and ends right now until it's all gone.
ETA: I'm sorry that I forgot to add that I've also used the coconut papaya hair mask and the honey hair mask. I use them both for cw and for deep treatments and I really do love both of them. My honey hair mask is all gone now and I plan on buying some more. I'll do the same when the coconut papaya hair mask is gone. They help with tangles and smoothing out my relaxed hair. I bought them when I was natural and I used them for the same things and they provided some nice slip and softness.
I bought the type 3 hair creme and used it for my twistout. I thought it smelled nice, not too strong, and it worked well on my hair. I also bought the coconut gel and liked it.
I haven't bought anything lately just because I found other products that worked out for me, but I would recommend the two that I mentioned above.
The Guava balm stunk. Everything else was just too strong IMO- but I like the fact that she has samples so if for some reason you don't like the product you won't be out of a lot of dough.
I didn't care for the Honey Hair Soy Milk...I tried it at the beginning of last year...and it left my hair feeling super dry...
I liked Sophia's Coconut Hair Jel though...I liked the hold it gave...it didn't flake and it wasn't drying like most gels tend to be...
The Type 4 hair Cream moisturized my hair well...but it's so expensive ($25)...it really didn't do anything that Jojoba or Coconut Oil can't do... so I wouldn't purchase it again...
I like her body oils...they leave my skin feeling super soft...and have a nice scent. I would purchase them again.
i tried samples of the sophia coconut hair jel, the type 4 hair cream and one of her pomades. of all of them the only one i really liked was the type 4 hair cream because it kept my hair soft and moisturized without any greasy feeling. the coconut gel smells great but it didnt really do much for me, it didn't have any real holding properties. the pomade wasn't that great left my hair greasy yet dry at the same time after several uses. I wont be purchasing again. thank goodness each sample was only $1.
