There is supposed to be a new and improved version of Vitale lye relaxer that I remember purchasing years ago which you can still get without a professional lisence. The makers of Affirm is pushing this particular relaxer that supposedly only professionals can get. It is supposed to be better that the old version of Vitale and the Affirm that everyone loves so much. I used to use Affirm some years ago and loved it, but when I moved to Atlanta, I couldn't find anyone here who used it. My brother-in-law owns a beauty supply store and is also a distributor of the new version (Vitale Pro). Currently my beautician uses Design Essentials which is pretty good, it allows for great smoothing time...I'm sorry for those who use Mizani, but I absolutely hated it...it burned too quickly and there was no time for smoothing, so it never really got my new growth straight. My brother-in-law can not keep the Vitale Pro in stock, even people from salons way across town come by to pick up the stuff. He says, it does really well in Chicago and in some of the other northern states and right now they're trying to push it in the south. I'm kinda funny about trying different relaxers, especially after I'm considering changing beauticians who moved here close to my house that uses Affirm on her clients. Soooo, the question is...which one should I consider for those who may have tried both? I'm hearing mixed reviews about the Affirm relaxer system, but am not sure if they are referring to the Affirm lye...(my hair needs the lye baby) or the no-lye version.

I'm not sure which Vitale relaxer you are referring to...but, I like both the Affirm Fiberguard Lye and the Vitale High Comfort Lye equally. I did not burn with either relaxer. And the results of the two are comparable.
