Has anyone ever heard of feed-in braids?

A friend of mine is wearing them and they look so nice, you can't even tell that hair was added.

For those of you that dont know what they are... They are cornrow braids that start off with your real hair and about 2 inches back extension hair is added for length.

They look good, but i'm wondering if they cause damage since the hair is added mid-strand. I dunno, but i think it might cut into the hair

. If not I'm definitely going to give them a try this summer.

I don't think it is the same thing. Beana you are talking feeding in hair in order to make long cornrows whereas tree braids are feeding hair into cornrows to make loose hair (of a sort). I know someone who does what your friend does and it really protects her edges.

Yes I have had these types of braids before. I don't think she is talking about the same thing as tree braids. When I had these done, it made my cornrows look more natural instead of having the "knot" where the braid begins at the hairline. It also protects the edges because mine have been thin but are growing in nicely thanks to extra pampering.

i get those done all the time. some people call them ghana braids. they are cornrows that start of small then get bigger. they look really nice.

Yes, I've heard of this. It's similar to the way I used to do mine back in the day when cornrow extenstion first started becoming extrememly popular (I ain't tell my age, or am I?). After this way of doing extensions evolved into knot extensions I was again reacquainted with this method through a video I purchased from Taliah Waajid.

thanks so much ladies!!!! So it is safe after all?!! I'm definitely getting these this summer.

For the ladies who have had these done:
How long do they last?

How much do they cost?

What is the best hair to use for this type of braiding?

For NYC ladies:
Can someone please recommend a braiding salon where i can get these done?

TIA

Yeah, that's how I started the tree-braids. You start the cornrow without adding any extendions. You add the hair in the middle or towards the end of the cornrow. This method gets rid of the usual bump at the begining of a weaved-cornrow and gives the appearance of a natural cornrow.

Beana, I wouldn't even pay someone to do this. Find a friend or relative that can hook you up. They are very simple.

those are the only type of cornrows I get my lady does start with a little bit of the hair and feeds in more and more as she goes along, most people think it's my real hair because you can't tell
