Has anybody ever used Copa?

I remember seeing an infomercial with Debbie Allen advertising this product called Copa. If I remember correctly, it was a non-chemical relaxer of some sort. I was always curious about it and sort of wanted to try it. I was wondering if any of you used this product. If so, can you tell me a litte bit about it?

Unfortunately,

I used this mess and it was extremely drying and the first and second time I used it, my hair came out and that was it for me. Don't waste your time, it's just another bonified RIO with a different name.

I wouldn't try it if I were you. It sounds suspiciously similar to Rio. Thousands of people lost hair from Rio. A co-worker of mine used it. Her hair looked nice for a week or two. Then it started drying up and breaking off. I have never seen hair that dry before or since. It was sad.
When they first came out, I called and e-mailed Copa and Naturalaxer customer service for the straightening ingredient in their products and never got a reply from either one. That was enough to keep me from trying it! The Naturalxer folks rattled off some natural ingredients, but nothing that straightens hair...

Edit: The straightening ingredient in Copa is Sodium Thiosulfate--which IIRC is like a mild jheri curl solution...

They lie, lie,lie
Copa is not natural. I called the company two years ago and grilled the salesperson on the phone. First she said that you use the product three times until you get the desired effets. So you put it on leave for a few minutes and then if the curl is not relaxed enough you do it again in a couple of days. I should have been a lawyer because I questioned her until she admitted that Copa has low levels of relaxer mixed with a lot of natural ingredients /images/graemlins/mad.gif!
I was so made I spent so much time working with me natural hair and I could have ruined it. This experience made me question why I wanted my hair straight ( /images/graemlins/frown.gifmanagability). Well, thanx to this site and other information I know what it takes to manage my hair and if I do decide to relax again I'll know how to care for it then too /images/graemlins/laugh.gif!

Peace and Blessings

Wow! Thanks everyone for replying! Now, I'm glad I didn't try Copa. I'd probably be bald by now. No wonder I don't see it advertised on TV anymore...

I learned from this board to avoid the Copa and Rio systems like the plague. Many people lost hair using these 'relaxers'. If you come across the Bodiphier, another supposedly natural system, avoid that one too. I was thinking about using it a while ago, but some on this board (including LondonDiva, I think) said that it dried and/or broke off their hair.
