Ok, I need help. My 4Bzzz, super coarse, dense hair is HARD! I am not experiencing any breakage but it is so hard.

I know that I use quite a bit of protein but I have significantly cut down and have greatly increased my moisture.

Is it the low pH shampoos, conditioners and Roux that I have been using?

My hair has NEVER been particularly soft nor silky as you can see in my siggy.

Im Still Thinking That It Might be the Protein. Try Taking it Out all Together , and Instead use more moisturizing Products.
Some People's Hair Just cant deal with Protein.. You might be one of them
I HTH

Is is hard only when wet or when dry?

My hair is always hard but particularly when it is dry. My hair has always been dry. Even before the protein and I was only moisturizing.

I will do a wet and dry elasticity test in 10 minutes and report back.

Ok, my hair took a quit a bit of tugging before it snapped while dry. While wet, it snapped almost immediately.

I also did the sink/float porosity test and my strand floated.

Please diagnose me ...

Ok, I clarified my hair with a shampoo, then used Keracare moisturizing shampoo and DC'd with Keracare Humecto (with heat) which usually makes my hair fairly soft. I then left the Keracare in overnight and it still felt rough. I washed out the conditioner this morning and applied some Cantu Shea butter which, again, usually softens my hair.

I tell you, I had the hardest time combing my hair and about 15 hairs came out (or so I thought). :nono:

I came home from work and decided to do a co-wash with D'Fina 11-1 and as soon as the shower water hit my head, I swear that my hair was coming out in clumps :(:pullhair::wallbash:. I counted and about 60 hairs came out when I usually only have about 5-10 hairs per day. I am hoping that the clumps were due to the hard comb out and bunning this morning.

However, a bit of good news as soon as I put the D'Fina in my hair, it was like BUTTER! I will sleep with it in overnight, rinse tomorrow and apply my glycerine, aloe, water, SAA mix along with prayer in the morning.

so what would the diagnosis be if it snapped much more easily while wet than while dry?

Thank you for asking that. I would like to know as well.

Update. The D'Fina initially made my hair soft and silky when first applied. I then slept with it in and rinsed in the morning. As soon as I rinse it out, my hair was hard again :nono: although not as hard as before.

I then sprayed my glycerin, aloe, water and SAA mix and it was just a little softer. I then applied CHI silk infusion (I am pulling out the big guns!) and still a no go.

But ...

About two hours later, my hair feels much better (I have no idea why. Did the mixture soak in????)

But only about 10 hairs came out this morning.

The saga continues ...
