Hello ladies,

I've got one month to come up with a product that will allow my hair to hang (even if only for an afternoon) without hardness. Tryin' to impress a cousin, anywho.

Last time I needed this Kinky Curly was suggested. I went out and actually paid good money for that expensive stuff. My hair was just as hard and stiff AND dull.

Is there ANYTHING out there I can use on 3b/3c hair which will allow it to hang (very minimal shrinkage) that will also leave it soft? I used to use products for Wave Nouveau but my hair was hardly this long. I'm open to suggestions.

HEELLPP.

I have no recommendation for a product but have you tried hairstyles that force the hair to hang like twists? Or doing banding?

Beautiful hair, btw.

Thank you kindly for that comp., Rosie. But, I don't know what "banding" is? Would that do it?

Banding is a technique where you use bands (ponytail holders) along the length of the hair to stretch it out. Let me see if I can find the thread about banding. It has some good pictures in there too.

Here's the thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?p=5012361

I definitely think it would make your hair hang, especially since you're BSL.

The product is Locks of Curls Pomade & Gel. I know it sounds like it's hard and heavy but its sooo yummy :lick: I use this when I wash n go and my curls dry soft bouncy and shiney. It's very light and I believe its all natural as well. My hair type is 3b/3c. If you combine that with banding you may get the look you are going for. HTH:grin:

I've tried Blended Cuties Down & Out Styles. I only tried a sample but I really liked it. It's meant for kids but worked great in my hair. This was a long time ago though so I want to try it again but I'm too cheap to buy it plus have to pay shipping that's why I never tried KKKC.

I'm relaxed but when I have significant NG my hair shrinks. I can always count on good ole castor oil to get my hang on.

I've never done a WNG (and too nervous to do so) but I've heard that you have to put a leave-in underneath the KCC to avoid the dryness AND not put too much on...do you still have any more left? Try it again.........

OP, I thought I had already replied to this thread but I guess I didn't.

Try spritzing setting lotion into your hair and then use whatever products you normally would. It gives me hang, bounce, and curl definition and I am a 4a head.

I'm going to try the setting lotion. Thank you!:yay: KCCC is the best curl defining product I have, but I hate paying so much $ for it. I hope the setting lotion works. I'm going to use it under IC gel w. sparkelites.

Please let me know how it works for you NatrlChallenge!

I have been able to go without gel for the first time ever since I tried a recipe with setting lotion! I went to my local BSS to get more and the lady there said lots of naturals use it this way and she is always selling out.

Wow alladat, ey: hang, bounce AND definition!!! Kewl beans. :yep:

I would say do a twistout or braidout. that hangs. it wont shrink up if u let it dry 100% before unbraiding/untwisting.
