Hand in Hair Disease

I've had it since I can remember. I couldn't keep my hands out of my kitchen - you know, the hair that's right at the bottom left and right corners.

My way around it - I'd slap my hand everytime it went near my hair. Childish, I know, but it worked for me. Classic behavioral conditioning at its best...

Jeez,
I have this Hands In Hair disease also, along with HOF (hands on face)and HOS (hands on scalp) disease. (Always checking for little bumps, etc.)

Yep, I definitely need a doctor!! I'm just a mess!!!

The only way I can keep my hands out of my hair is if I'm wearing it in a bun or french roll.

Lindy, I somehow got over the HOF disease! I just told myself that it was better for my face if I didn't touch it - ever. And it has been. I suppose I should follow the same advice for my hair!!

This is hilarious to read because as I came across this thread my hand was in my head playing and twirling away. I'm a serious case of HIH disease. My hands are in my head in class, in the car, while I'm doing homework... it's very sad I like the suggested solutions though.

Whewie....I have been having this disease since I was aboyt 6 years old. It's been a nervous habit besides biting my nails. I am trying to keep to stop but its oh so hard to....feeling my new growth is fun. hehe

hairlove... ever since I have gone natural, I cannot keep my hands out of my hair! I always play with my coils... I either twist or twirl them, and gently pull them letting them spring back to my scalp. It's so fun! :)

I thought that putting my hair in twists would help but that made it worse.
My hair holds moisture better now that it is twisted and the twists are sooo soft. I just rub, pull, and twist my hair all day.

I have this too!
While thinking... "one day, in the future, I'll have these wavies back. Dammit, I'm bored of transitioning, I want my natural hair back NOW!"
I also used to do it when I'd just relaxed my hair and the hair felt weird on my scalp, like a bit prickly.
