Does anyone have any advice on what to do for hair that is healthy all around but lacks hair on the temples? Its harder for my hair to grow in at my temples do to very tight braiding combined with too many perms. I am frustrated. My hair is growing in but at a verrryy slow rate. Does anyone else have the same problem I do? Any type of advice will help.

Oh Ok.. Thanks for the advice sweetie. I already have the Boundless Tresses but I am guilty for not using it as much as I should. It would help to use it right? :ohwell: lol Thanks again

Girl let me tell u.. my hair is so moisturized/greased that my scarf does figure 8's at night lol. Now I have a question for you, Are you currently taking any supplements for hair growth? I am currently taking HairFormula37 and some people tell me not to use it because it can do more bad than good, but I am getting excellent results out of it. If you are taking hair supplements what are you taking and how long have u been taking them?

Coconut Oil greatly helped my hair and it makes my hair stronger. You can also try to stop relaxing that part of your hair maybe only relaxing it every other relaxer and them when you do relax it relax it last and only leave the relaxer on a little while. But also it does help if you don't think about it so much cause after a while I was looking in the mirror and was like what where did this hear come from. :lachen: :lachen: and make sure you change up parts if you part your hair.

Hiya Kat!! Thanks for responding *waving*. I use oil on my hair all the time with a combination of other things. I guess I am just getting impatient because I notice that my temples arent growing and the rest of my hair is ridculously long. As for perms, I havent had a perm in almost a yr, with the exception of 2 months ago when I wanted to soften up the front edges of my hair :look:. Yea I know, that was stupid because the front of my hair was longer than the back before I permed it. I was surprised because I used Dr Miracles relaxer thinking that it would be a little bit more gentle for my hair and to my amazement as I was washing the relaxer out, chunks of my hair was coming out. Girl I cried at the sink lol. What made it come out was the fact that I put a lot of heat to my hair to straighten it earlier that week, prior to putting the perm in my hair. I should have known better.

Oh no bless ur heart!! I have heard bad things about Dr. Miracle's Relaxer doing that to your hair but I don't think using heat prior to the relaxer would take your hair out. But I could be wrong. But there are so many ladies on her that have great tutorials and journals. I will see if I can find some stuff for you and PM you.

:welcome:

Yea my mother told me after the fact that I shouldnt have used the Dr Miracle perm:sad:. Are u sure that it couldnt be the heat that took my hair out prior to perming? I am so upset just thinking about it. I will very much appreciate it if you were to find something for me that I can follow. There is so much great advice on this site that I dont know what to do. lol Once again, thank u so much. Pretty soon I will start to put pics up on the progress of my hair but I am not yet ready to take this wig off. I am "enrolled" in the wig 2008 challenge lol

The BT should definitely help. I also suggest using Folligen Therapy - it's a copper peptide solution that really does improve the condition and your scalp which in turn helps your hair grow. You might also try emu oil - research has proven it "awakens up to 80% of dormant hair follicles."

I layer the Folligen with oil, switching between BT and emu on my scalp once a week now, but when I started a year ago, I used it daily, and the products made a significant difference in my rate of growth and the strength of myy hair.

Hey NewFlowers, *rubbing BT on my temples as we speak* If you girls say it then it must be true. Where can I get the Folligen Peptide and the EMU oil? I plan to buy it next week. I see a product Junkie in the making *evil grin* lol.

Oh Im sorry Newflowers... I just noticed the link u sent me to the Folligen product. I am on the site now. I am gonna be dreaming about Midback length tonight I can just feel it * Looking anxiously at the countdown on my ticker*

I take bcomplex, vit c, Foti, and Zinc whenever i remember for general well being. im also supposed to be taking iron since im anemic but it makes me so Constipated so i dont take it regularly either. If HF37 is working for u, then pls continue taking it.

ETA: u do realise that grease doesnt necessarily = moisture right???

If you think you might wish to try the Folligen, I suggest the trial set - it's enough to get a feel for the product and see some progress. That way, you spend $30 instead of way more. I discovered it when I was doing C&G - I had hair growing in between my cornrows. I believe it's a great product and highly recommend it.

I too recommend taking your vitamins - they do make a difference.

I am sorry this happened to you ((( HUGS )))

Last night I officially started my cayenne pepper + Extra Virgin Olive Oil (AKA EVOO) on my temples. It burned at first and made my fingers extra warm but I heard wonderful things about alopecia or hair loss when the above mentioned was used.

Good luck and try not to become a PJ. Although, I am not following my own advice with being a PJ try NOT TO

Gurl I have the same problem, I think mines might be hereditary, but I think that it was a little fuller, and due to tight braids and perms its really thin. I hear that Super Grow Gel works it helped me grow the back of my hair so I am going to start to use it in the front. my friends edges fell off and thats what she used... HTH

Oh Ok.. I am definitely gonna continue taking HF37. Now you and I are in the same boat because I am anemic as well. My doctor told me to start taking my iron pills. He prescribed me some that were so big they looked prehistoric, so I didnt take em:sad:.. Yea I know thats bad but they look like they would hurt going down. And what do you mean that grease doesnt necessarily equal moisture? What should I use besides grease?... As for the folligen.. its friday I just got paid so I am ordering the trial pack now as we speak. Wish me luck.. I will keep u updated on my hair growth, sides and all lol!

Thank you Ms. Pretty *hugging u back*. I just found a thread tonight about the cayenne pepper and the olive oil. I already use olive oil on my scalp so it wont be a drastic change to my hair. I usually mix it with my jar of Royal Crown grease! Does that grease ring a bell to you? I dont know if ur big on greases but its the best grease to use. My hair had grown to amazing lengths with that grease when I was younger. You and I will keep eachother updated about the cayenne pepper and virgin olive oil. Before I go to work tomorrow I will pick up some cayenne peppers. I have read from another thread that some people use the liquid cayenne peppers while others use the powder, what do you use? In my mind I thought to use a whole cayenne pepper and mix it in the blender. Sounds retarded? I know lol, BTW... I want your hair lol

Hiya Ms Classi.. I think that my problem is mostly related to the fact that I have anemia. I know some anemics has hair growth problems but with me, its a combination of neglect. What exactly is Super Grow Gel?

today I saw a friend I hadnt seen since XMas and she noted my edges were filling in... she asked what I was doing and I told her about LHCF and my current armor of products... She felt the processes we go thru require too much time & effort but still offered congrats on my progress...

perhaps cuz Im looking at it daily, I dont see it on the edges... I do see some different on parts of my nape though...

so I will ofer to you what Im currently doing... scalp massages with coconut/castor oil mix and then twice a day ( as Im gettign dressed and before bed) I rub in my sulfur/MN mix

Just a few days ago I found a MSM cream at Whole Foods and tried it... its slightly drying so after it absorbes I follow with coconut/castor oil...

Ive promised myself to not look at comparison shots for a while so I wotn get discouraged but I take it that if others are noticing a difference it must be doign some good...

good luck

Thanks for the advice passion! Any other advice you have keep it coming. I greatly appreciate it. I am so gung ho about my sides that whenever I discuss it with you ladies on here I wind up putting Boundless Tresses on my edges, which yes, I am doing so at the moment. The encouragement on there is endless and I love it :yep:. My mother has told me that my sides are growing in as well but I dont see what she sees because im staring at it everyday so my attitude and your attitude about our "sideless sides" are identical lol . I cant wait to see the pics on your progress. Let me know when you put them up, I would love to see them

most of the time, Moisture= water as its 1st ingredient. Does the product u r using to moisturise have water as its 1st/2nd ingredient? if not, i dont know if its really moisturising. when I hear grease, i tend to equate it to petrolatum, mineral oil and these ingredients do not moisturise although u can use petrolatum to seal, but ladies on here prefer to use castor, jojoba or cocnut oil to seal after applying a waterbased moisturiser.
as for the iron, try Fergon, its really a small pill...that should go down much easier..i use it occasionally but i should take it more often:(

Its this Gel that I bought from a local bss store and it has BIOTIN in it. I am anemic too. I think that with TLC we will get full edges in no time. For now I think that I am not going to perm my hair every relax I might just touch up every other perm.

Oh I see what your saying and it makes a lot of sense, but for some strange reason I would think that water would dry the hair moreso than keeping it moisturized. *scratching my head* :ohwell: Dont call me retarded just call me "Specho" lol. I just purchased some Mango Butter yesterday so that should do the job. Im actually trying to find a website where I can purchase Vatika and Amla oil. I have read other threads where girls mentioned the stuff but didnt think to try it until I read a thread where this girl ( I forgot her name) said that using Vatika oil has made her edges grow in thick and long so it seems as though Vatika oil may be the quick solution to my problem. So I am on a mission and I wont rest until I find it. lol. Thanks for recommending the Fergon. I am going to run that by my doc and see whats up with that. I cant deal with swallowing a bowling ball everyday. That just doesnt work for me lol.

Oh ok. Im hearing Biotin a lot in these threads. It must be one of the many magic potions I have to add to my regimen. and your right about the TLC to our hair. From looking at your picture I wouldnt think that you had a problem with your hair on the sides. It looks pretty healthy and seems to be growing nicely. How long did it get you to get to the length you are at currently? Last night I took my wig off and measured my hair. Its actually reaching my collar bone so it looks as though I may be at shoulder length soon. Im so happy to be making some progress.
