Have you ever used one of those little combs with the blade attached?

If so do they work?

I went to a bss (for the first time in probably 5 years) and when my mom was paying for her ponytail i saw those on the wrung below the counter. I've been planning on buying the split ender but i was wondering if these did a similar job. I guess it would be way more time consuming though huh :/ That's if it works.

I thought these were razor combs to thin and razor cut hair. That's how my friend uses them on her wig. leaves the hair wispy and layered.

the one in the store said hair trimming but the ones on ebay say razor cuts so maybe that's what they are for. When i pass by there again maybe i'll take a look again. I'm not sure if they are exactly like that.

I'm not trying to feather my hair.

What you posted and anything similar is not good for the hair. It doesn't cut blunt, instead it shreds the cuticle making it more prone to splits, etc... The are used mostly for thinning hair, idk how it would work for trimming.

They are called thinning shears, IIRC. I've had my hair thinned with these in the past and they are NOT for trims. They are for razor cut-type hair styles, like modern shags. I wasn't growing my hair out at the time and my hair is thick, so it was kinda cool.

They are really, really bad for your ends because it cuts each strand at an angle, instead of straight across. Pretty much every end will turn into a split end eventually, and your hair will require a blunt cut to grow the layers out.

eta: Shoulda read the replies first - yeah, what manter26 said :giggle:
