Hair styling question (this may be long)

<font color="blue"> </font> Hello ladies!

I really must say I enjoy reading and posting here. I've gained a lot of knowledge in the two short months since I've discovered this site!

I was wondering if I could get a few opinions on my hair. In April of last year, I decided to try something new with my hair - I cut it to just above the base of my neck from having been shoulder length. I wanted to try a new style. I've decided to grow it back. One of the things that I'm really having a tough time with is decided how to achieve my style.

Do I use rollers at night (plastic rollers)? Do I get up in the morning and use the curling iron (no - I'm trying to grow my hair, I don't need it breaking off). I used the Caruso rollers for two years every morning and they dried my hair out terribly - even with the regular use of a moisturizer.

I know how to do my hair - I'm just not sure /images/graemlins/confused.gif how what method to use that will keep my hair healthy and help me get my length back. I don't like to wrap my hair at night because I've experienced breakage. Can you give me suggestions about how you maintain your styles without sacrificing hair health?

Thanks,
Kedra

I think that protective styles are the best for protecting the ends (there is another thread on this already). Doing roller sets with soft rollers (like flexirods) etc. are good also.

I do a wash and set once a week and sit under a hooded dryer. I wrap my hair at night and wear my hair up or down sometimes (I'm trying to reduce that myself). Switching sides when you wrap it might help reduce breakage. Sometimes I twist my hair up and put a scarf on when I don't want to wrap it. Others use ponytails etc. HTH

Hi Kedra70, /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I understand about your styling concerns. The curling iron daily is a no-no. /images/graemlins/naughty.gif The plastic (magnetic) rollers may be uncomfortable to sleep with nightly. Perhaps you could try those satin covered soft curlers I've heard some of the girls mention on the board. Try this link: satin solar rollers Hope that helps. /images/graemlins/wave.gif
