I need some help, Ladies!

Not in a bad way or anything!! I’m just frustrated.:perplexed

I have been concentrating on getting my hair thicker, and it’s coming along nicely. However, this morning was the last straw!!! It took me 22 minutes to get my short, shoulder length-ish hair in a ponytail. :wallbash: I’m hyper-aware when I style my hair to prevent damage, and now that I have a lot more of it, it is a challenge to get it in order. Honestly, a phony pony should not take 30 minutes to attach!!! I mist my hair with a little water and S-Curl to make it easier to handle, but it's not working as well any more with the new fullness.

I’m seriously considering just putting it in a baggied tail after washing and leaving it in until my next wash. :look:

Does anyone have any advice to shorten styling time with a phony pony? I'm a little embarassed to admit it, but I’m entirely too lazy to do anything else with my hair right now! :o  But now even my "easy" summer style is taking ages!! :(

TIA for your help!

hey girl,, im sorry i cant help you with advice but I am also frustrated in that my 'easy summer style" is not easy or quick at all!!!:mad: ,, im wearing extensions and getting my hair to blend is so hard,, i say just be happy your hair is growing!

No advice about phony ponies, but I can attest to it taking me forever to do my hair these last few days(I'm not even at shoulder length yet!)

Don't know if its something in the air around here or not (could be) but my hair has been poofy and dry which is never a good combo, and just hard to control with since about Saturday)

Styling has been my problem, too.

I don't wear ponies, but thanks to claw clips and barrettes, myhair is up everyday.

It is a pain, and I understand.

But, I can say this, I do notice that my hair is easier to style after shampoo and deep conditioning days when I don't have a lot of product in my hair so I try to do that twice a week and avoid using lots of styling aids.

Thanks, Ladies!

It is comforting to know that I'm not alone!! It really IS a frustrating problem. I really think the weather may be making a contribution to the long styling time.

I think I'll take your advice, HoneyDew, and wash my hair more often. I was pushing for every other day to use up my conditioners, but it's still like every three days I wash my hair, and I do put a lot of leave-ins in it. I'll try to cut back some and see if it helps. :)

pour da tea... how did you obtain your new thickness? I really need to thicken up..

I'm having the same problems so I've trying to style my hair as much as possible at night.
If you're putting it in a ponytail maybe the best thing would be to tie it up while your hair is damp not soaking wet. Then tying your hair up the night before. That way the next morning you'll be pretty much ready to go. HTH.

I used to have the same problem. But with everything, I found it got easier over time. Now after wearing the phony ponytails, I can whip it in seconds. Shameful one night while partying, my ex (that had 1 too many drinks) kept grabbing on my hair while dancing and oopps!!! My ponytails came right off on the dance floor. Thankfully it was super dark so while I bent down to pick it up, I attached it nice enough to go to the bathroom and make it perfect again. I think the only reason I didn't get embarrased was because I too had been drinking.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

I totally agree with this. When my hair gets to a point where arranging it even into a simple bun looks relatively futile, I just wash it. Its a total cop-out, but it works. This is usually day 3 in the week for me. Instead of fighting through the hair and potentially causing breakage from manipulation, a simple shampooing and conditioning always does the trick. Especially deep into a stretch! My washing sessions can bump up to every other day during a relaxer stretch.

Thanks, Ladies!! I think it was product overload. As soon as I washed and cut back--I added some nighttime prep-work--I can put it all together in just a few minutes again!

I avoid combing my hair unless I have to--finger styling up to the point I need to do finishing touches. I wash my hair often and keep moisture and protein treatments, alternating each wash (at least 2x per week). I keep my hair misturized, which adds tensile strength to the hair.

I think leaving it alone as much as possible and protective styles (like my ponies) are the keys to retaining thickness.

HTH! :)
