I don't notice much breakage though, due to the conditioning. When my textures are closer to one another (did a corrective perm, still not for long enough--Scared to process too much)I'll do the air dry thing.

I am learning. Until two months ago all I did was go to the shop and get my hair flatironed, with nothing in between. Now, I cant really say I have a regime *yet* but:

I wash every five days with Creme of Nature Shampoo and Aveda Conditioner.

Sometimes I use Aveda Protein.

After my wash I use Lotta Body Setting Lotion and Parneavu Creme Hairdress on my ends, and braid my hair.

In the morning I wear a bun, ponytail or down and curly.

Im thinking this isnt enough because my hair is looking DRY and sometimes my curls dont look as defined as others. (my hair is very curly naturally but sometimes seems to straighten out when I braid it)

Advice is welcome and needed /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi guys

I'm sorta new here, so here's my routine for the moment.

Weekly- I do a hot oil treatment with olive oil, then wash my hair with creme of nature/Kemi Oyl moyst shampoo. Following with a deep conditioning treat with Le Kair cholesterol conditioner. Once I rinse the conditioner out, I apply Infusium 23 leave in conditioner. Next, I oil my scalp. I use Kemi Oyl/Olive oil. I style my hair in two strand twists using either ORS twist and lock gel or Kemi Oyl shea butter pomade. I always let my hair air dry.

Daily- I spritz my hair with water and oil the ends. I do this before I go to bed also. Maybe once a day or every other day I spray Infusium 23 on my hair. I also check my scalp for dandruff, if I see any I'll wash my hair before the week is up.

Also, I don't take my twists out to wash my hair. I just smoosh the shampoo/conditioner around. My hair is just as clean without all the breakage. I got this idea from The Hair Lady. It really works.

I wash weekly. Im new to the hair thing so Im still experimenting with products. I do a hot oil tx before washing with Keracare Essential Oils and some extra olive oil added. I sit under a bonnet drier for about 15 mins. To wash, so far I like CON (yellow bottle with green writing) and Nacidit Avocado Shampoo. For condits I like Pantene S&S, LUST, and Humectress. (If its one week before a touch up, I use Keraphix first). I use distilled water to rinse my hair. I use Ensure as a final rinse. I put WGO on my new growth and/or scalp. I put a little Scurl on my hair and do a rollerset. While rolling, I dampen my hair with a leave-in potion: mostly water, Keracare Oils, Headdress, and Infusium. I put ORS carrot oil on each end before rolling. I sit under the drier for about 3 hours on medium. I wrap with a satin bonnet before sleeping. Daily, I put castor oil on my thinning edges and bushy kitchen. I also spray some Scurl or Headdress on the kitchen to keep it soft and pease-free
laugh.gif
. I put Headdress all over my hair and then Carrot oil on my ends before retiring. If my roller set loses its bounce, I put Scurl on the back of my hair and put it in three braids. In the AM, I have a braid out/straight hair combo thats kinda cute. WHEW....that was a mouthful....I think I remebered everything....

I wash or condition about three times a week:
JASON jojoba (if a shampoo is needed)
Motions Moisture+
Aphogee 2 minute (once a week)
Aphogee Leave In

My maintenance products are:
Pure Castor Oil
Glycerin on ends
Pure coconut oil

It has been 5 weeks since my touch up. I plan to get braids. I want to try no trim method for a while.

Vitamins
Flintstones Multi,MSM 1000, Pantothenic 1000,Biotin 1200, flax oil,occasionally brewer's yeast(NASTY)

I'm doing okay, although I would like to lose less strands when I wash/rinse.

Washing:
Twice a week with either Kemi Moyst Shampoo or Elasta Creme Conditioning Shampoo (both SLS free). Nefore shampooing I heat a mix of extra irgin olive oil, cocnut oil and jojoba oil and comb hrough my hair and leave on for about an hour. I also use Infusium 23 leave-in tohelp detangle before washing. To save hair, I wash hair section by section (I put my hair in 4 big plaits).

I've recently started going to the gym again, so I've beeen conditioner washing afterwards with Elasta Intense conditioner. I plan to go the the sauna at theg gym once a week, my hair felt so soft after leaving conditoner on then rinsing after.

Conditioning:
Comb conditioner through each section, either Elast Intense or Kemi Moyst conditioner. Once a month I use LeKair Aloe Vera Cholestorol conditioner (I think that'd what it's called, it's green.)

Daily:
I usually wear my hair in twists. I used to put in single barid extensions myself, haven't in a long time but plan to again soon. I moisturise each night with Profectiv Mega Growth Anti Breakage Strengthener - I LOVE this stuff! My hair feels so soft when I use it. In the morning I moisturise with Elasta Mango Butter at the moment.

I don't brush my hair, only comb it once or twice a week, and haven't used heat since March As for supplements, I use Seven Seas' Mulitbionta multivitamin for general health and Solgar's MSM 1000-2000 mg per day). I try to eat right and exercise as I believe total body care is necessary for hair health

Sounds complicated but it's not too bad really, just a routine like brushing teeth, bathing and moisturising skin!

ok this is mines..... I wash my hair/cont every week with pantane new line for natural and relaxed hair. i oil my sclap TCB hair and sclap condt once a week. and my hair and ends every other day with pantane oil mosturizer. i bursh my hair every night and wrap it and wear i slik bonnet. I sometime use my flat iron but not a lot but when i do i use Loreal straight up ironing gel a little bit of it goes a long way.
I relax my hair every six weeks where i roller set and wrap and sit under a hair dryer. my hair stays in curls till i wash it.
I get a trim every three months not cut. I had someone who u tell them to trim then they go wacking away, i got rid of her.

I am focusing on moisturizing and resting my hair. That just involves, washing, rinsing, spraying with homemade detangler and leave in, oiling and wrapping. I do the sectioning, spraying, wrapping, oiling ends everynight, no combing or brushing. this is a 2 weeks a month thing to promote gaining more length. Rinsing every 2nd day. Bonjour.

I am new to this still and developing a routine but this is what I have done thus far for the past several weeks and it has TRANSFORMED my formerly brittle heat damaged hair COMPLETELY!!! First of all I got rid of the curling iron. No more relaxers.

OR condition wash with cheap conditioner for damaged hair mixed with evoo

SHAMPOO
Nexxus Therappe Shampoo 2x week

followed by 30 minutes DEEP CONDITIONING (w/o heat) Masquintense. But I am going to try out LUST as a cheaper alternative.

In Between Shampoo Days, I CONDITION WASH, again cheap cond. mixed w/evoo

AFTER WASH/STYLING AIDS
Comb out tangles with fingers or wide tooth comb
Nexxus Headress is my current Leave-in.
Apply Smooth & Intense serum
air dry out in ponytails or braids or natural

Would like to experiment with roll set

MOISTURE MAINTENANCE

NIGHT TIME
I am not used to wearing a scarf at night, but it does help, however most of the time it ends up on the floor when I wake up in the mornings. Still trying to perfect this. Any tips would be appreciated.

PROTEINS/RECONSTRUCTORS

Hi Moisy,

I see you're from the Dominic Republic. Do you speak spanish?

What is a ponytail?

What is the ponytail method? Is there any picture on the web with a ponytail?

Muchas gracias de antemano,

Sherynella

Hi Sherynella
wave.gif

Yes, I do speak spanish. The pony tail method is after washing and deep conditioning you put your hair in a pony tail, put a roller on the ends and let it air dry. Basically, it's just your hair pushed back in a pony tail and then you allow it to dry naturally rather than applying heat.

Hi CaramelKiss,
wave.gif

I just read this post and I didn't know if you have found a solution to the night time scarf siduation...if you haven't, have you thought to try a satin pillowcase? HTH!

Hello Spagirl

Thanks girl about the satin pillowcase!! I also heard that using high thread count cotton pillowases will also reap the same benefits.

Thanks for looking out for a sista!! I appreciate that!!

Hi everyone.

I wash my hair at least twice a week when i'm not in cornrows. I use Creme of Nature Professional shampoo then i condition thirty minutes under a hooded dryer with a shower cap with Le Kair Cholesterol, afterwards i seal my hair with ACV. I use Infusium 23 leave in conditioner for damaged hair followed by WGO on my hair and scalp paying special attention to my ends. I used to wrap my hair but after reading the informative threads on here i realize it's thinning my hair line out so i do braid outs now and or roller sets letting it air dry. My hair is about shoulder length which it used to be neck length. On alternative days i'll do conditioner washes with Pantene Pro V (Women of Color) Conditioner for about 15-20 minutes and follow my shampoo regimen without the shampoo. Once a month i give myself a hot oil treatment with hot six oil on my scalp for about 15 minutes. I touch up my hair every 2 months with Motions lye relaxer during that time my hairstylist trims my split ends.
I have been trying cornrows to grow my hair and because of my thinning edges it was really helpful to read from this board to use your real hair to start the braids and then add the hair into it. it stopped my breakage. I've been leaving the cornrows in for about 2 weeks using Braid spray, and my own mix of Infusium 23 leave in conditioner and WGO nightly on my braids.
I take One Source multivitamin, Essential Oils, CoQ10, L-Carnitene, and Vitamin C as my vitamin supplement.

Thanks

For starters I switched over to condition washes only. I use shampoo for my scalp only. With the exception of clarifying.

I use CON for damaged hair or Paul mitchell one shampoo for my scalp.
Conditioner wash with Pantene S&S or Jason's natural Jojoba Conditioner.
Deep conditioner with Africa's Best Cholestrol
Final rinse distilled water
Leave in with Aussie Hair insurance (this stuff is great)
Leave in also with Africa's Best Cholestrol
I protein condition with Jherri Reddings protein pac every other week.
Hot oil treatment once a month
Clarify with tremesse clarify shampoo once a month
Air dry in phony tail method
Closer to touch up I will roller set
