Hair info from essence magazine

In the new essence they give a detailed breakdown of what to look for (ingredient wise) in a product for certain things. For example if you want moisture they say look for Jojoba oil, Mango butter, panthenol, and shea butter. If you want conditioning look for avocado iol, horsetail, polyquaternium-10, and stearyl alcohol. They also give detailed info about each one and an example of a product. Its kinda long to write so I thought I would mention it so you all could look in the mag if you have a chance. We know our ingredients pretty well here but majority of black woman don't and it was good to see a magazine sharing much needed info to other black women. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

One product they mentioned that I was interested in was shaklee nourshing scalp treatment. Take a look and tell me what you think. /images/graemlins/bdance.gif

Just a quick question: What is the difference between moisture and conditioning?

I always thought that conditioning was either moisture or protein/strengthning (sp?) or protection (or all three). What do they mean with conditioning?

I have no idea to be honest. I'll go ahead and finsh posting the info. For strength look for ceramide, triamine complex, and dimethiconol methionine. For shine look for mica, cyclomethicone, and trimethicone. Fo cleansing look for ammonium laureth sulfate, decyl glucoside, and gingerroot extract. If you want volume look for pvp/va copolymer, chitosan, and hydrolyzed wheat protein.

Is this the February or March edition of Essence?
In terms of the mango butter for moisture - did they use as Elasta QP as an example?
From all the good things, I've read on this site about it /images/graemlins/smile.gif , I am hoping to buy some soon.

Ok

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that gingerroot was cleansing...Hmm maybe it is time for some experimentation /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That Shaklee product is probably very good. I have heard nothing but good things about Shaklee. I have also heard that their B-Complex vitamins are great for hair purposes. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
