My hair is in bad shape. I need help to get on track. Here are the facts:
1. I have significant breakage from stretching a relaxer (12 weeks). During that stretch I experienced severe shedding. I tried to lessen the shedding by using Aphogee, but that really dried my hair out.
2. My hair is very dry and I don't know what to use to build up the moisture. (I won't be working for another 3 months, so cost is an issue)
3. My hair is too short for protective styling and use the curling iron too much.
4. My hair respondes well to supplements (I take Rexall's Hair, Skin & Nails, MSM-4500mg, and biotin-7500mg, cod fish oil, and PABA) but they make me naseuous so I take them infrequently.
Can you all offer any solutions?

[Hi, sorry you are having hair issues but I hope that the advice you get here will help you get on the right track.

1. You said that you had severe shedding, did an Aphogee treatment and it dried your hair out even more. Did you follow up the Aphogee treatment with a moisturizing treatment? If no that could be the problem with the dryness.

2. YOu stated that you hair is dry and you don't know what to do to build up the moisture. First, are you doing weekly moisturizing and protein treatments? If not this is where the problem is, you should alternate weekly between a moisturizing and protein treatment. I would suggest you try ORS replenishing Pak, it has a nice combination of protein and moisture that makes your hair nice and soft. YOu can also try Elasta's DPR-11 it's a light protein treatment, if you add a little Olive oil to did it will make your hair moist. I would suggest doing this once a week. By the way both of these products are very affordable and should last you a long time since your hair is short.

3. How short are we talking? If you have a few inches you can cut some straws in half and do a straw set on short hair, secure hair with bobby pins. You'll have cute curls, the style should last you for a few days and it should help retain moisture. You can also accessorize with cute hair clips and headbands, again these are affordable.

4.

4.Are you drinking plenty of water when you take these suppliments? WHen I was taking them I had the same side effects, I find that if I take them with water or with a meal I feel MUCH better without the nasty side effects. I hope this helps.

What kind of hair products do you have now?? eg. conditioners/shampoos ect.
There are a lot of inexpensive hair care products in the market that can give your hair the moisture that it needs.

Some good moisturing conditioners that walmart has are: the dark'n lovely cholesteral, and motions moisture plus ... you can start with anyone of those and deep condition your hair when it feels dry.

You said that you had breakage due to trying to stretch your hair to 12 weeks. I would suggest that you stretch small and then work your way up to 12 weeks. So if you normally relax every 5 wks try to stretch up to 8-10 weeks and then you can keep increasing if you like. I was in the same situation and I learned that when your new growth is horrible it may be easier to just relax and avoid unnecessary breakage due to trying to tackle your new growth. Also is your hair long enough to put in a pony? If so you can always wear a phony pony or bun. As soon as I was able to put my hair in a pony this is exactly what i did...hope this helps:p
