I posted 3 photos of my hair to the gallery (at least, I hope that they are there) and I'm hoping that someone could look at them to see if you could help me determine my hair type. In addition, kinda look at the condition. I bare in mind that you're are looking at distanst images and that the answers will be best guesses because you cannot feel or really visualize every angle. I last texturized it 17 Feb with African Pride Multi-length texturizer. I left it on for about 12 mins (which included application time) .
Also, I had one of my male soldiers measure it for me. He used a tape measure (because he was building something at the time--lol). He started from the scalp and stopped at the end of the hair. Hopefully, we did it right, but...:ohwell:
The findings are: the crown: is 4.5" and 5.5" --one of the readings came from one of the plaits that I did not unbraid. the back:3.25 and the hair just above the base of the neck is 3.5. I didn't do the sides--(sorry).

thanks for all of your help :) .

EBONY, you're hair looks like type 4b to me, it also looks like you have a fine hair texture. You may not need to leave the texturizer on for such a long period of time the next time, maybe 8-10 minutes would be good for you. I hope that was helpful!

ITA your hair seems 4B with fine hair, the best way to determine how long to leave the texturizer on is to perform strand tests first. btw the your hair looks so soft and nice.good luck

I agree. Strand tests are very important when texturizing.

Hi there, EbonyRose!

Your looks quite fine and fragile like my mother's. Just to reiterate what was said in the previous post, you probably should not texturize so often. Try to stretch by adding one week at a time.

I also think braids are the best option so you won't have to manipulate your hair too much. My mom started getting braids a few years ago and her hair has never been so thick and long in all her life.

If it's not too uncomfortable, try wearing a silk scarf inside your various helmets.

Good luck and stay safe out there.

Ok. I will try and stretch my texturizer for 9 weeks instead of every 7. I gotta tell you though, these naps will be outta control :lachen: . They roll up pretty good around my hairline. I get tempted to brush them-but...i try and rake them using a comb--but they don't listen. I sleep in a satin bonnet, but i will have to find something that is not to noticeable and easily hidden while i wear my helmets--because i will be breaking the military standards, if it is noticed. I was told before that it was soft and fine--but i'm not really sure what all of that means. This is really the first time that I have really considered taking care of my hair  .

Thanks for all of your feedback--it really helps. Believe it or not --this site is like a diversion for me --not just for the hair tips, so thanks a lot.
